I've rented a few Korean movies in hopes that it'll spark some of my 'roots' and make me less americanized and more...whatever. My interest was sparked after watching Tae Guk Gi: Brotherhood of War, which was a very touching movie in itself. Of course I watched this movie months ago....but I never got my ass into gear until yesterday after watching some korean drama with my mom. It bothers me that I'm not fully fluent and have to ask for translations at times while watching. I can get the idea of what someone is saying for the most part, but none of that would get me through a conversation lasting longer than four sentences and not ending with "go clean your room." So I'm hoping that at least watching these movies will help my understanding a bit more while I seek out some other method of learning it properly.
Today I'm taking my sister to San Antonio to get more work done for her AVM. They're injecting dye into her leg(and possibly doing the gamma knife procedure again), so it's good, clean fun up ahead. On the whole she's doing a lot better, with less migraines to complain about since she's managed to keep herself less stressed.
Okay, I'll stop pretending this is a real entry and post what I stole from
aethyrkitten since I found it one of the more interesting pass-it-alongs:
I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. We're in the same communities, or I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you are close personal friends. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason.
But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she has an entirely different use for toothpaste than I do."
I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.
