My roommate Liz has decided to make herself heard. She's never made it a secret that she's a vegetarian or an animal rights activist(hell it's the first thing she told me first met), but apparently now, she's out to send us a message. This morning I woke up and stumbled over to the kitchen like always, looking for something to drink. Since Liz's door is right across from the kitchen, I noticed the new poster she decided to pin up on her door....right before nausea hit me. It's a picture of a cow head with one eyeball still in it. Bloody. Hanging from something. The caption says "Did your food have a face?" Then at the bottom "Go Vegetarian."
Okay, first off, let me just say I have no problem with vegetarians. Eat how you want, it doesn't bother me. But to hang a poster of a bloody animal head right by the kitchen is a bit much. I am not particularly squeamish, but this poster just takes away my apetite altogether(not just for meat, but everything). Megan is also bothered by it. I'm just angry that she would do that. If I ever put a "Beef: It's what's for dinner" poster on my door, I'd understand her doing that as a way to counter or something. I don't know, I just find it offensive(which was probably the point) and unnecessary. And it pisses me off that she's so self-righteous about being a vegetarian. Okay, you don't eat meat. That's cool. Do your thing. But I do eat meat and I will not apologize nor be made to feel bad about doing so.
Now, I shall go bang down her door and throw meat at her in protest.
