The Great All American Buzzkill

You know what, being straight edge really fucking sucks. I hate it so much. it’s the shittiest double edged sword on the planet. I don’t carry it around like a badge of honor. I don’t go up to random people and tell them I’m straight edge. I don’t see it as an issue of pride. With that, I am not selfish about it, yet it follows me. I figure ( Read more... )

anyone who would stop being your friend because of this isn't worth it anyways. we love you because you're you, not because you do/don't drink.

Leave it to the two kids who don't drink, to have enough liquor in their house to quench the thirst of a town in Ireland...
i could discuss this topic for hours, however not in a livejournal comment.

chrisian, your straightedgeness makes you who you are. and i honestly wouldnt have you any other way :-) who else would i have to make fun of me all the time if you were too drunk to talk?! now that would be tragic. and honestly
thats just pathetic if people dont want to be your friend because your smart and dont kill all your brain cells

hmm. seems to me that you beat yourself up more than others do. i dont drink heavily, i dont smoke up. i havent experienced a problem...?
if there are people treating you badly because of this, they arent really worth dealing with. however this is a decision you made; if you arent happy with it, you have the power to change. if you dont want to change, thats fine. but it seems to me you pat yourself on the back for something you complain a lot about; i'd recommend making a decision and talk to the people giving you a hard time, or deal with it. drinking and drugs arent a big part of life unless we make them so; being straightedge shouldnt ostracize you.
my advice to you is; stop expecting so much to come of it, and maybe not as much will.
good luck

Idk, I still think pretty much the same...I mean if your best friend since elementary school is the type of person who pressures you nonstop and makes you feel like shit for your choices, then I honestly don't think that he's worth the worry. I'm not saying block him out because he's a bad person, but he's clearly not the same person he was in elementary school cause people change ( ... )
