It has been a while since I've updated with earthquake and tsunami relief information. The news in America has all but ceased coverage, and life in some areas have returned to normal. When I was looking at Uniqlo clothing, I came across its Save Japan! project, which features limited edition T-shirts designed by 10 different celebrities.  The project aims to raise money for the Tohoku earthquake/tsunami relief and show Japan support.  Uniqlo states that it will donate 100 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Just a quick post about something cool my alma mater is doing to help Japan out after the earthquake and tsunami (it's old news but I just got their email update with this press release). Rice University has a program called NanoJapan that sends 25-30 undergraduates to research facilities all over Japan for summer internships and a chance to learn ( Read more... )

In response to the Tohoku earthquake, community initiative Southlake Working As a Team (S.W.A.T.) joined forces with Southlake Sister Cities, the City of Southlake, and the Carroll Independent School District to form Southlake 4 Japan. The organization dedicated itself to helping the town's sister city, Tome, which suffered damage to its buildings ( Read more... )

A 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Miyagi around 11:30 PM Thursday. Power has been down in the cities my friends are located. The good news is that there doesn't seem to be much damage or more casualties, and the tsunami warning was called off. Gambatte, Nippon!Unfortunately, there was bad news earlier this week.
