bellsouth dsl.....

Okay so people that I work with should get a kick out of this. Friday our DSL went down....not this would not be so tramatizing except for the fact that when you're on bedrest and you have a laptop with a wireless connection it's pretty much you're connection to the outside world. So I got up and went back to the office to figure out what was going on with the DSL. The little light was flashing so I called Bellsouth. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with them telling them the light was STILL flashing and they asked me 10 times at least if I was sure I'd paid my bill - YES I did. So anyway they checked with the engineer and for whatever reason our port had been locked and they couldn't tell me why so they unlocked the port and everything was fine from that point on.

This morning the DSL was working fine and then out of boredom and pain I decided to take a nap around 11:30 or so and woke up around 2pn-ish and thought I'll play a game of Spite and Malice on the computer. No DSL connection. Once again I came back here to check it and the little light was flashing. Now I'm about to say something not so nice so just prepare yourselves. I called Bellsouth and of course got someone that was NOT in the United States. And his name was Roger.....um....sorry I don't think his name was Roger. Anyway - I tried to explain to him what had happened yesterday and all he kept saying was I see. I see. I see. No...I don't think he did see because for the next 47 minutes he asked me how many phones were in the house, how many phone lines were in the house, did I pay my bill, was the light still flashing and then he had the NERVE to tell me that the engineers don't have anything to do with the DSL. Whatever....I hung up on him I was so mad.

I called back and got someone named Stephen who also didn't sound like a Stephen and sounded like he was from the same region as the other person and I said I'm about to say something very rude but I don't want to talk to you - I want to speak with someone in the United States. He verified some account information and passed me along to Lacey who was here in the US. Don't EVER let Bellsouth tell you can't talk to an American - they will patch you right through. and don't EVER be afraid to ask.

Anyway, she didn't ask a bunch of retarded questions she did line tests and things like that. She was very helpful . She did tell me that at 3pm on a Saturday it would be next to impossible to get a tech out to the house to check out the problem but they could have someone out first thing Monday morning and I said I understood the reasoning behind that actually...and then we scheduled the appointment. She gave me a couple numbers for dial up incase I just couldn't stand it and wanted to dial in and I was off of the call in less than 20 minutes. It's amazing.

So I realized I needed to balance the check book since Billy needs to go grocery shopping and I came back here to plug the phone line in the the computer to dial up (and cringed the whole time I thought about this) and happen to glance over at the modem - all lights were on. What a miracle!!! So I haven't cancelled my appointment just yet - will call back tomorrow night and do it if it doesn't go out again...

I was so ill with them today and I know I shouldn't be but my patience right now is just very thin.
