Albus Severus Potter woke up with a start. He breathed heavily for a moment, trying to remember where he was. He swiped a hand across his forehead and realized he’d been sweating. He’d just been having a nightmare. The same one he’d been having for a month now; ever since his best friend had been hit with a bludger and knocked off his broom during their last flying lesson.
He was reliving that moment in his dreams over and over again, every night. Excepts in his nightmares the blond never stopped falling. He just fell and fell and fell until Albus woke up. It was making it really hard for the brunet to get a good night’s sleep. And he was starting to have trouble getting to sleep in the first place. It was hard to fall asleep when you knew you’d just be waking up in an hour or so because of a nightmare.
Albus looked over to the bed where his friend was fast asleep; just as safe as he had been when Albus fell asleep. Albus got out of his bed and made his way over to his best friend. He climbed into the blond’s bed with him and curled into his side. Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy woke up when there was a shifting in his bed. He smiled sleepily down at the brunet before making a quick hand gesture.
Ever since the accident Scorpius hadn’t spoken a single word. Not than very many people noticed; he hadn’t said much before either. But Albus had noticed. Scorpius had explained, through the use of their crude made-up sign language, that he couldn’t talk anymore. He tried, but his voice wouldn’t cooperate. Albus had taken him straight to Madam Pomfrey and asked her about it. All she’d been able to tell them was that it was most likely a consequence of the concussion Scorpius sustained. She assured them that it would only be temporary.
Albus smiled back at Scorpius. “Another nightmare,” he explained. Scorpius nodded and wrapped an arm around his best friend. Scorpius was used to Albus climbing into his bed in the middle of the night after one of his nightmares. It always made the brunet feel better to be near the subject of his horrible dream and Scorpius was happy to oblige.

Albus Severus Potter wasn’t sure if he was actually happy to be home for the summer holiday. He was glad to be back with hi mother, father, sister and the rest of his family. But he was also sad that he wasn’t with his best friend. Especially at night when he had a nightmare and the blond wasn’t there to make him feel better. Of course, the separation was only temporary. They already had plans to visit each other. Albus would be staying with the other boy for two weeks in August and he would be staying with Albus for two weeks in July.
Albus just had to wait until July First to see his best friend and that was only a month away. He would have to distract himself with the neighborhood kids until then. They weren’t as fun, but at least he wouldn’t be alone like his best friend surely was. Every time he had thought thought he felt horrible about it and wished he could do something to change that fact.

Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy was having a horrible summer break. Without his best friend around to interpret his gestures he was having an extremely hard time communicating with his family. He used to be able to stutter his way thorough conversation with his parents but ever since he fell off his broom (after bring whacked with a bludger) he wasn’t even able to do that. He was stuck either acting thins out until one of his parents finally understood or writing everything out. Needless to say, he was spending a lot of time alone in his room.
In just about a month he would be joining Albus at his house for two weeks. Scorpius couldn’t wait. He was tired of there being no one around who understood him. And so were his parents. Scorpius father had even asked the blond to teach him the sign language he used to communicate with Albus but Scorpius refused. That was something special for him and Albus only. He would rather keep things the way they were.
