“I’m so glad your Dad agreed to let you go skiing with us,” Albus Severus Potter told his best friend as they sat in the living room of the Potter home, waiting for the rest of his family to finish packing.
“Me t-too,” Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy agreed. “How l-long does th-this t-take?”
Albus contemplated this for a moment before answering. “Probably another hour.” He frowned. “What do you want to do while we wait?” Scorpius furrowed his eyebrows in thought before he made a quick motion with his hands. Albus grinned, “Alright, I’ll go get the chess set from my room.”
Scorpius nodded and watched his best friend jump up and dash up the stairs, dodging a floating suitcase as he went. Albus’s father followed the suitcase down the stairs and smiled at the blond. “We’ll be ready in a few minutes, Scorpius. Are you excited?”
“Y-yes, Mr. P-potter,” Scorpius stuttered. “Th-thank you for t-taking m-me.”
“Oh, it’s no problem. We’re happy to take you.” Albus’s father told him with a genuine smile before heading back up the stairs.
Albus emerged from the second floor of the house a few moments later carrying his old chess set. He grabbed his best friend by the wrist and dragged him into the dinning room without preamble. The brunet deposited Scorpius in a chair and then sat across the table from him and began setting up the game. Scorpius caught Albus’s eye and gestured quickly.
Albus laughed. “Yeah, Dad’s a bit mental. Not a very good judge of time.” Albus finished setting up the chess pieces. “Let’s play.”

An hour and three games of chess later the Potter family was finally ready to leave. The luggage had been shrunk and fit into a book bag for each person and the family was gathered in the living room. Albus stood between Scorpius and his little sister, Lily Luna Potter, as his father explained how they would be traveling.
“We’ll be taking a portkey from just down the street to a wizarding pub a mile from the resort we’re staying at. Once there we’ll walk a couple of blocks to a car rental place and then we’ll drive the rest of the way,” Harry Potter told his family and Scorpius. “Now remember, the resort we’re staying at is a Muggle resort. So no talk of magic or anything related to it.” He looked at each of the children in turn before he clapped his hands and grinned, “Let’s go!”
The family all grabbed their bags and followed Harry Potter out of the house. Lily walked between Albus and Scorpius as they made their way down the street towards the portkey. “I’m scared,” she whispered. “I’ve never taken a portkey before.”
“Here it is!” Albus’s mother announced, pointing at an old tin can.
As they gathered around the small can Scorpius made some complicated hand gestures to Albus. Albus turned to his sister, “Scorpius says you can hold his hand if you want.”
Lily’s face lit up,” Really Scorpius?” The blond nodded and held out a hand to the small red head. She grinned back and took a hold of his hand before reaching out her other hand and placing a finger on the tin can like the rest of her family. Scorpius followed suit and a moment later the tin can glowed blue and their feet left the ground.

Albus Severus Potter, his family, and his best friend were at the ski resort through New Year’s. The owner of the resort held two parties on New Year’s Eve, one for adults and another for the older kids. Albus tried with all his might to convince his parents to allow him and his best friend to go to the party with his older brother, but they insisted the two eleven-year-olds were too young.
“Please Mom?” Albus pleaded one more time as his parents stood by the door, ready to leave for their party.
“No,” his mother said, firmly, before opening the door.
As she stepped into the hallway Albus’s father turned to face the two Gryffindors. “Why don’t you boys come up with some new year’s resolutions and watch TV?” he suggested.
Albus frowned, “Yeah. Sounds thrilling.” Scorpius made a quick hand gesture. “Scorpius says to have fun,” Albus translated.
Albus’s dad smiled. “You too,” he said as he exited the room.
Albus turned to his best friend. “You know what my resolution is?” Scorpius raised one eyebrow. “Grow up.”
Scorpius chuckled and rolled his eyes before grabbing Albus by the hand and pulling him into their room. He deposited the brunet onto one of the beds and then grabbed the Television remote and switched on the TV. Lily Luna Potter appeared in the doorway to the room the boys were sharing a few minutes later. “I’m lonely,” she announced, frowning slightly.
Scorpius patted the bed next to him and smiled invitingly at the small redhead. Albus pouted slightly from Scorpius’s other side she his sister skipped across the room and joined them in watching a movie on TV. Scorpius smiled at his best friend and patted him reassuringly on the knee.

Many hours later Harry Potter and his wife returned to their suite at the ski resort. As his wife got ready for bed, Harry went to check on his children and Scorpius. James was fast asleep on the couch; he had insisted that he was not sharing a room with Albus and Scorpius. He pushed open the door to the room Lily was staying in but it was empty. He had a mini panic attack before deciding to check Albus and Scorpius’s room first.
He opened to door to the boy’s room and grinned at the sight that greeted him. One of the beds was empty. The other one was occupied by not only Harry’s missing daughter but also by both Albus and Scorpius as well.
Albus slept on the right side of the bed, his head on Scorpius’s chest. Scorpius was in the middle of the bed and he had one arm around Albus’s waist and the other under Lily’s head. Lily lay on her side on the remaining part of the bed, using Scorpius’s arm as a pillow.
Harry watched the sleeping children for a moment before quietly closing the door and returning to his bedroom. “Kids all asleep?” his wife asked.
