Pansy stared at her nails as she waited for Daphne to finish getting ready, growing more impatient by the second. This always happened, because for some reason, it took Daphne twice as long as it did Pansy, and neither could figure out why. It didn't really matter, it wasn't as if Pansy was going to lend a helping hand. Her time was best spent making sure that she looked incredible.
"Finally." Pansy sighed as Daphne emerged from the girls' dorm. "But what on earth are you wearing? You know this is a party in the Shrieking Shack, right?"
"Yes..." Daphne looked around awkwardly, glaring at anyone who dared glance at her. "I thought I looked nice."
"You look terrible," said Pansy. "I look awesome."
Daphne rolled her eyes and linked her arm in Pansy's, pulling her in the direction of the portrait. "Beauty is subjective, Pansy."
"Not when it comes to me." Pansy smirked as she allowed Daphne to lead her in the direction of Hogsmeade, keeping an eye out for any professors or Gryffindors who might rat them out. "Really, though, Daphne. Tweed?"
"My mother said I look rather pretty," replied Daphne.
"Your mother needs her eyes testing," Pansy muttered, and just before Daphne could reply, Pansy yanked them out of sight of Potter and Weasley. Even if Daphne had wanted to retort, she couldn't, or they'd risk being caught out, and this was one party they did not want to miss.
"I think they're gone," Daphne whispered after a couple of minutes had passed. "Why is Blaise holding it at the Shrieking Shack, anyway? The common room usually suffices."
"Indeed it does." Pansy caught her breath as they ventured out into the cold Winter air, on the track to Hogsmeade and hopefully out of the danger zone of being caught. "But people were getting suspicious, what with the loud noises and certain Slytherins being unable to hold their drink, wandering out into corridors and suchlike."
"Right," said Daphne knowingly. "Someone really ought to keep an eye on Crabbe and Goyle."
"Yes, well that someone is going to be snogging me all night." Pansy grinned at Daphne and squeezed her arm gently. "So I suppose that'll be someone else's job."
"Not mine," said Daphne hurriedly. "I have my eye on Blaise. I heard he's just broken up with Millicent. Reckon he'll be up for a shag?"
Pansy laughed loudly, the sound escaping in the wind. "Blaise is always up for a shag, Daphne. All you have to do is ask."
"Perhaps..." Daphne mused. "Hey, can you hear that?"
"What?" Pansy frowned, straining her ears to see if she could make out what Daphne was talking about. After a few moments, she managed to hear a little bit of music, but over the wind, it was almost non-existent. "Ahh. It would appear they've forgotten how to cast a silencing charm."
"Probably thought they didn't need one all the way out here," said Daphne, biting her lip. "That's the benefit of being fashionably late, Pansy. If we'd have been on time, we'd never have noticed that."
"I'm so grateful we'll be late because you were picking tweed," said Pansy sarcastically. "Indeed, hearing faint music over the sound of the wind really will be the highlight of our evening."
Daphne narrowed her eyes before breaking into a smile, quickening her pace as the cold started to get to them both. "So you think I should just ask him, then?"
"Who, Blaise? Yes, of course. He's not going to say no... unless that tweed puts him off as much as it does me."
"Oh, give over," said Daphne, pushing Pansy gently. "Tweed is really very fashionable these days. Just ask Madam Malkin."
Pansy scoffed. "I wouldn't be caught dead in there, me."
As they got closer to the Shrieking Shack, they braced themselves for the night ahead. Pansy knew she was going to have a damn good snog with Malfoy tonight, but she hoped for a little more than that. And Daphne, well, she just wanted to get it on with Blaise, but first, she'd have to ask him, and she didn't think that was something she could do.
Knowing how nervous Daphne was about speaking to Blaise, Pansy decided to take matters into her own hands. When they finally arrived at the Shrieking Shack and were welcomed by Blaise, the first words out of Pansy's mouth were, "Evening, Blaise. Just so you know, Daphne wants a shag, but she's too scared to ask for it. I know she's wearing tweed, but would you do it, for me? That's my boy." She turned away as though she'd just done something incredibly wonderful, leaving behind two very shocked and embarrassed Slytherins, but Pansy knew that by tomorrow morning, they'd both be thanking her.
That Pansy was sure of.
