Sirius' eyes dart over to Remus and the two exchange dark looks while Peter asks, "Er... sorry, what was that, Prongs?"
"The clock winked. I swear!" James exclaims wildly. "It's been winking at me all night."
Sirius then snickers at his best friend's antics, "Are you sure the word isn't 'ticking'? That's what clocks do, isn't that right Moony?"
Remus studies James for a moment. "Prongs, maybe you should have a bit to eat, you're looking peaky. Here look, we've stolen a bunch of things from the kitchens."
James stares at the food that his friends start to lay out before him and looks horrified. "Are you seri- joking? The melon! There's a melon strolling on two tendrils!"
The others stare at each other in confusion. "Mate, I think you've lost it."
"Lost... lost? Where am I?"
"James, what's the last thing you remember?" Remus asks curiously.
James' brow furrows as he tries to think back. "Er, on the pitch teaching Lily how to play Quidditch?"
Sirius nods, "Good. Good. Now...er-"
"-what were you teaching her today?" Peter asks eagerly.
"I-I don't know-" James says, looking confused.
Sirius, so as to keep James' dignity, leans over and drops his voice down so that only he could hear, "She clonked you in the head with a beater bat just as the bludger was getting close." He steps back, "All right then, James?"
James, with a goofy grin, replies, "I think I'm gonna bloody marry the girl."
