Poetry Challenge #6: Haiku
Title: An Hogsmeade: Back in Time!
Summary: What happens when the entirety of a small village gets transported back in time?

'Twas a quiet day
Just another Hogsmeade trip
Little did we know...
The cobbled streets were
just as we'd seen before, but
something stirred around
A shift in our step,
a sudden ripple in time
almost went ignored
If not for the weird,
bizarre, otherworldly pull
that knocked us all down.
When we all came to,
it was to a diff'rent world,
a strange time, even.
Witches and wizards
wore long hair and flared bottoms,
other oddities.
They said "groovy" and
"ya dig" like it wasn't all
outdated, which meant
we'd traveled back in
time, back years and decades all
the way to the year
of disco, punk rock,
The Who, Abba, Doctor Who,
Charlie's Angels and
The Brady Bunch too.
Of Mystery Machines and
platform shoes, afros.
It's the seventies,
we've gone back in time to the
era of hippies,
Marauders and bright
disco lights, but why were we
sent here? No one knows.
We ran into old
friends, familiar faces that
looked ages younger.
We tried to blend in,
speak their slang, wear their clothing,
even dance their tunes.
We walked side by side,
reminiscing decades past:
how the more things change,
the more they stay the
same! For in the past we too
found kindred spirits.
We met good friends and
we all had a blast watching
memories unfold
anew, refreshed, and
something we'll keep close to our
hearts. We'll remember.
Back in the day, we'll
all say, back then we had a
hip and groovy time.
When Hogsmeade returns
to the present, don't forget
to keep on jivin'.
