Drable Challenge 63: Centaurs are not Unicorns & 1 lonely haiku
Title: Centaurs are not Unicorns
Summary: but Hagrid tries to make them unicorns, anyway.

“Come on, ye blasted things! Put it on!” Hagrid exclaimed, through gritted teeth. He swayed slightly on the spot, and his speck was more garbled than usual. In his right hand, he held a hat with a protruding golden horn, and in the other a large goblet of firewhiskey. All the centaurs in the herd crowded around.
He took a generous gulp before saying, “Come on. It’s Halloween!” Hagrid dropped the hat on the ground, and instead took some silver confetti out of this pocket. “Whee!” he said, throwing it up in the air. “You’re all glittery, now you have to be a unicorn!”
“Hagrid, I shall not let you disgrace my herd in this way. You have always been good to us, a friend to us, but I will not allow you to do this. Perhaps you should go back to the castle, have some coffee and go to bed.”
“Coffee? Who needs coffee when you’ve got this? Lovely it is!” Hagrid took another large gulp. “Hee!” he laughed heartily, obviously drunk. It was a high pitched laugh and very uncharacteristic of the half giant. Instead he tried to force the unicorn hat onto another centaur. “C’mon. Get. It. On!”
The centaur bucked as if in pain or just scared of that damn hat. “That is it, Hagrid!” Magorian emerged from the back of the cluster, the largest centaur and head of the herd. He bucked and hit Hagrid square in his chest, pushing him backwards. “I will not take this any longer. Do not come back until you’ve sobered up.”
“Boo! Ye’ big babies!” Hagrid exclaimed sadly. It had been a good idea, but he trudged slowly back up to the castle, leaving a trail of silver confetti in his wake.
