Divination Club: Term XXIII, Activity 4: Hall of Prophecy

You are listening to Professor Trelawney prattle on about something mundane one morning, when she suddenly freezes mid-sentence. Her demeanour changes as she emits a haunting prediction about your journey into the bowels of the Ministry of Magic to unlock a long-forgotten secret. Within moments, she has snapped out of the trance and carries on as before. You and your friends look uneasily at one another, and realise you won't relax until you solve the mystery.

Activity: Hall of Prophecy
Deadline: Saturday 18th August @ 11:59pm UTC
Points: 1st/2nd/3rd/Participation - 50/40/30/10 points.
Scenario: A race through the Hall of Prophecy! Find the 10 scavenger hunt clues among the Divinationy clutter, and submit it as fast as you can... but be warned, there\'s a secret twist at the end! Optional participation only hunt is available for 10 points only.

Yes! It's a 24 hours behind schedule scavenger hunt! You're looking for a series of Prophecies within the Hall of Prophecy. Complete a chain of 10 clues correctly, and you'll score 10 points. To advance in the Amazing Race, you must get at least 6 correct. Bonus item points may never exceed participation points.

Before you begin, please be advised that there are two tracks you may take:

Participation Only: the first clue is below. Highlight to read it, and begin your hunt. No fuss, no muss! This option is a little easier than the Time Trial.

Time Trial for placement: please send an email to divinationclub101@gmail.com - put your LJ username and House as the email title. You will get an automated reply containing the first clue. The clock will NOT stop until you have complied with Clue #10's instructions. Fastest hunters will score placement.

It will be based on elapsed time between your first and last email, regardless of time or date- you could do it at any point in the next fortnight and shave the same chance of winning. Just make sure you have time to run the course.

A few points to note:

♠ The two options listed above will mean there are different Clues out there (eg, two Clue #1s). To place in the time trial, you MUST get the right ten in the correct order. For the Participation only, I'll allow either option, so long as you hit markers 1-thru-10.

♥ Did I mention there's a twist on the time trial? Tabs are your friend, as are your instincts.

♦ Clue times are relative to one another. For example, if a clue is found in a post made on Christmas Day 2010, a mention of "last month" will mean November of 2010 (instead of OUR 'last month': July 2012). Next year could be any date in 2011, from January 1st onward. Some dates are accurate; others are more vague.

♣ Clues will all be new comments within existing Divination Club posts, but they could be anywhere: At the end, at the start, in thread stacked, results, reminders, you name it. Constant vigilance!

Of course, if you miss a clue or something, you won't get the points for it. So if you find nine, it's 9 points instead of the full 10 for Participation.
