To Prove A Point?

I got a call from my direct boss in the morning of my Saturday night shift informing me that her boss wanted to have a meeting on Friday with the 3 (including myself) staff that work in the same area as me. I said sure, what time? 9 AM.  I said, wait, you know that I work at midnight right, and that 9 AM is directly in the middle of my sleep schedule, and that I have to commute 30 minutes one way for a proposed one hour meeting? She said yeah.

I e-mailed the higher boss and explained the situation and giving all the details about sleep, how I work that night, and how the commute gas cost would negate and turn negative the profit from one hour of pay, or maybe she could instead e-mail me the information of the meeting, and this is the e-mail I got:

"Donovan I understand your barriers to attending the meeting but I would like you to attend in the interest of smooth unit operations. Please make the appropriate accommodations. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter."

One, I'm your employee, why the hell can't you spell my name right? I sign it at the bottom of ALL my e-mails, DonAvan. Second, what a selfish response. We have a second and third shift that runs in my department, and this higher boss works a regular 9-5 shift. So, this time frame is obviously to suit her and neither of the other 2 staff I work with, although this hits me the hardest.

Some may consider this to be a pointless bitching on my part, I can understand that. The chain of command works that way, and the boss always gets what they want and at what time. I'm just tired of the lack of consideration, I don't make that much money doing this job. I sent out a huge e-mail to my department heads and staff last weekend about the morning work load, lack of consideration from the 9-5 staff, about how my work load has doubled since I started without a pay increase, and on and on. I received no response from anyone, not a single person. Hopefully my e-mail points are addressed in this meeting. In fact, I hope it runs an hour long so I can break even on my gas costs.

Now I can kiss my Friday goodbye to sleeping and to ruining the plans I made on Saturday, thanks boss.
