WOW. Oh woman, you are killing me. Love me some intense!Ten. It has been way too long since I read fic and BAM what an amazing story to suck me back in. Guhhhhh. And FWIW, I think this is an EXCELLENT use of an English degree!
The uh, last chapter, blew my mind. SO so so hawt! Damn! I enjoyed the Doctor’s stamina : D:D Such a satisfying read, everything Donna deserves, emotionally and sensually. The bit where she noticed their reflections had me choking up.

I’m always going to think of this fic when I see those particular DT eyes :D you have more than done them justice!

I'm glad you loved it! I was fun using my knowledge of poetry as a basis for this story. I have always adored "To His Mistress Going to Bed" and Rev. John Donne is hands-down one of my favorite Renaissance poets. I love him because he runs contrary to the stereotype of the chaste clergyman. The man had a few mistresses before he married and then went on to have something like 15 children! He wrote such sensual poetry and you know some of it had to come from personal experience. If you look at his portraits there's something a little mischievous in his eyes. I think Rev. Donne knew how to have a good time (in more ways than one

Hmm... I just found out my daughter is supposed to be reading some John Donne this year in her English class. Somehow, I'm not sure if this is exactly what the teacher had in mind... should be interesting to see what pieces the teacher selects.

He did have a whole slew of children. His wife was either pregnant or nursing during much of their marriage.... they did lose a couple, including the last one, whereupon his wife died several days later.

Still, as they say, I guess he practiced what he preached.

English teachers tend to skip the racy stuff. Her teacher will almost certainly choose "Death Be Not Proud." It's arguably one of Donne's most famous pieces.

I learned all about Mr. Donne's erotic side when I was in college and it was like seeing a totally different side of the poet.

While I'm not one to speculate on the sex lives of long dead poets (except for Byron...hell, it's hard not to!), I'd have to guess Mr. Donne wasn't lacking in skills in the bedroom department, considering his large family. Mrs. Donne certainly wasn't complaining if she kept on coming back for more, despite the numerous babies.

I'm sure, but it sure caught my eye!

For sure about Byron (with his reputation), and Donne certainly knew the mechanics of it, as did his wife! Well, and pregnant women do sometimes have a heightened desire for such activities anyway, once they get over the morning sickness.
