Richard III for a matinee and Camelot at night. Quite a diverse view of British monarchy. Just to show how little some things matter, the actor playing Richard, Duke of Gloucester,, is female. And put on one of the best performances of the part I've ever seen. The costuming was unambiguously male, and the face by no means feminine. Grand work all around.
Camelot was well done, but a glossed over vesion of the story. I mean, Lancelot and Guinevere both escape unharmed, although Guinevere does end up in the convent. And Arthur gets to inspire further generations of Britons as the last moment of the play, with the final battles happening after the play ends. But Nimue was very nicely done in a sparkly bodysuit with spangles at the necessary places. For the opening Merlin comes on stage and calls a hawk to hand. They used a live hawk, and every one applauded as it came to rest.
Again, no idea what two shows I'll be seeing tomorrow....
