Jess, bookcases, birthdays, presents, flowers

May 07, 2004 08:35

Jess phoned me last night! It was way cool :-) I wasn't expecting it at all, and I felt all loved and like I had friends and stuff ;-) Lol. Not that I never feel like that... but you know what I mean. It's just *nice* - although that word is so annoying!

I managed to finish building the bookcase though (yep... I built a bookcase). It's looking pretty good actually, the little bit that goes at the bottom is slightly wonky because screws won't go in straight (ever), but, it's not that noticeable really... I don't think. I can just cover it with stuff anyway methinks - everything tends to get well messy in my room anyways lol.

I surprised myself by not posting on my birthday - I think I usually do...

But, on the subject of my birthday - I was surprised at how many people remembered it! And even people that I hadn't reminded it was going to be my birthday - very impressive. I was inundated with Happy Birthday texts - and I'm pretty sure I replied to nearly all of them! Not straight away, mind. But I did reply :-)

Rich remembered too - hehe, although, I don't think he would have dared forget! I would never have let him get away with it! We all know that though...

So on my actual birthday - I had a stinking stinking cold, was nasty! Which, of course, I got from Rich - but don't worry, that wasn't the only present he gave me!
I wasn't planning on doing anything special on my birthday as a celebration or anything, but I probably would have gone out somewhere anyway. But in July (for two weeks..) Rich is going to Ethiopa to build houses for people out there, with a charity called Habitat for Humanity - but he has to raise his own money in order to fund him going. So he'd organised this meal at an Indian restaurant in town, with a few things to auction off to make some money for him to go to Ethiopa and stuff. And - it just happened to be organised for my birthday! Hehe - he organised it before he knew, bless him. So, yeah, I went to that :-)

It was good fun though, I sat on a table with him and his friends (who I have met before), so in the end it was just a laugh really :-) He somehow managed to get the whole restaurant to sing Happy Birthday and I went a very lovely shade of red! Lol.

Aha... the interesting part... presents! At first he only gave me chocolate, and I was thinking "nah... he can't only be giving me chocolate... can he?! :-|". Then later on he gave me another present, which was a CD - Zero 7's new album, which is good cos I've been meaning to get it for a while! And to be honest I thought that was it... and I was pretty much content with that being it - because he'd said before that he's really skint (which he is... grr) so he couldn't afford to get me anything that big... at the moment.

Anyway - the meal finished (finally), and we went back to his flat for a bit. Before we went in he was like "Can you get me a drink of water when we get in? I'm really thirsty but I really need the loo as well!" I was a bit like "huh? get yer own water!" (lol) - but I agreed anyway. So we go in, he goes to the loo, and I make my way to the kitchen, turn the light on... and tardar! There is a bunch of GORGEOUS beautiful flowers in the sink!!!! And they truly are lovely - maybe the loveliest bunch of flowers anyone has ever given me.... I love getting flowers. It beats any huge massive gigantic gesture - if someone brings me beautiful flowers - I'm happy! And he bought them to go with my room too lol - so lots of pinks and purples. Good choice!

Hehe - well, that's a long entry innit!

Other presents - my Mum got me perfume, haven't got anything else from her yet cos I didn't tell her what I wanted... lol. My Dad's given me money, so has my aunt. My brother got me some jewellery, Claire bought me a top. Umm.... *tries desperately to remember who else got her presents*. Lol. Whoopsy daisy if I missed anyone out!

Ahhh - I'd better go - it's nearly 9.00. Supposed to start working at 8.30 - oops!

Bye bye kids.
