i'm really bad at updating this thing. i'll have a post idea, but then will put it off until it is no longer relevant. i feel like i don't have enough time for anything these days. i always have at least five options for the evening, which is incredibly difficult for someone with an absurd amount of anxiety attached to decision making. i always have a song to work on. i always have a video to edit. i always have a sketch to write. and i always need a clean desk before i can start on anything. and those netflix aren't going to watch themselves, by the way. i consider updating livejournal occassionally to be another of my self imposed "obligations." this entry will serve as a recap of what has gone on recently. it is not an exhaustive list. do not treat it as such.
- I met a man named Rand McNally. He gave me his card and a map. Seriously.
- My cousin got married in the Pismo Beach area. It was
lovely. I ran into a former camper of mine at Bull's Tavern and we caught up. My Uncle Scott lived up to his persona.
- I used the opportunity to visit some friends in San Francisco for a day. It was
lovely. I stayed up late with
Whit Scott and talked about life. I think we are going to be friends for a long time. I also got to spend some quality time in my two sanctuaries, Golden Gate Park and Amoeba Records. It feels good to not always be in Los Angeles all the time. My only regret is that i could not recharge my camera battery.
*EDIT* I forgot to mention how wonderful it was to listen exclusively to San Francisco based bands while driving around the city (ie: Beulah, the Dodos)
- I saw these dvd cases for Epic Movie next to each other at Best Buy.
Apparently, the main difference between rated and unrated is the midget's ethnicity.
-
Miles Kurosky of Beulah fame posted a song from his nearly completed solo album. I'm very excited.
-
The New Year have completed their new album which will be released in September and followed by a tour. Praise be to God. The Kadane Brothers are playing a couple shows beforehand, forcing me to seriously consider driving to Texas for a weekend.
-
Roberto Alomar has a show on my birthday next monday. I can barely imagine something I would rather do on my birthday. It's going to be fun. We were also just informed that we will have a show in the la improv festival in June. This is in addition to the Cagematch. I love that team.
- This saturday will see the third installment of the Craigslist Experiment at
Ultimate Improv. We will be playing improv with professional clowns who have never done improv before. This show is being billed as unmissable. By me.
- I watched the beginning of Independence Day. The best part, by far, is when Jeff Goldblum is talking to Harvey Fierstein in the Tv Station. The dialogue is solid, Jeff figures out that the aliens are using our satellites against us, and most importantly, they walk past a Fruitopia vending machine. I never thought the sight of a vending machine would make me laugh so hard.
I think that's it.
Yep. It is.
Bye.
