characters. castiel and dean winchester
verse. so happy i could die
summary. cas is still...dealing with keeping his brother under control and not worrying dean. dean potentially has other plans.

Living with Lucifer was honestly like living with a consistent echo of someone who was displeased with their life. Cas tried though. He didn't want to have Dean constantly worrying over him nor did he want to prove himself a danger to any mission they may have gone on even if that wasn't very much of the question as much as him knowing that at any given up, given Lucifer's gaining strength, he could be overtaken again and Dean could be injured. It must be very easy to live in Castiel's head...everything was black and white or Dean. The archangel knew he was weakening for the most part because he needed to do things like eat or sleep. Even the thought of returning 'home' right now was a terrifying one because once his brothers discovered that he was the current vessel for the newly released Lucifer he was dead to them. Not in a figurative sense of the term, they would kill him and he wasn't in the state of mind to believe it was a bad idea. Not right now at the very least. They had done a good job on keeping on the move, all thanks to Dean. As the days passed by, Castiel was more or less useless much to his own chargin.

Castiel hadn't waited around for Dean to awaken that day, not like he usually did. Instead he had decided to leave the safety of their motel room. It didn't feel right to stay there. His skin felt too tight, too itchy. He didn't want to wake up Dean just to explain that he didn't want to talk about his feelings. Dean generally didn't deal well with the subject of that per say. So he was going to do his best to work around Dean's comfort zone...even if he wasn't the type to talk about them in the first place. He had wandered around town in a circle almost before coming to a stop right outside of the town, nearly hunching over. The entire time it seemed as if Lucifer was having a one-sided conversation within his head. The promises that things could be so much easier if he just gave in. That he'd feel much more at ease and comfortable if he did. It seemed like the easier path to go down but then again...when was anything that easy as he took in a deep breath, unwavering in his devotation to protect Dean. Even though...

Even though...

"Brother, he is no longer your charge because you are no longer connected to the Heavenly Body." Lucifer's voice echoed in a laugh before he felt his body transport with ease to the parking lot of the motel once again, standing in the middle of the lone parking lot before bringing his hand to his chin. In his stupor of thoughts, Lucifer had taken control and summoned one of his demons to ensure that Castiel had his 'strength' just in case. Blood already beginning to dry on his lips. The black outs were starting to become distressing yet still...he kept it from Dean. He wandered back into the motel room, carefully shutting the door behind him before heading straight for the restroom and shutting it behind him as he quickly took a shower. The angel wandering out with his jeans on that Dean had gotten for him as he searched for a shirt to wear, muttering to himself in yet another conversation with his older brother.
