The last couple of days, I have read some very disturbing stories about dog abuse - the dogs in particular being "Patrick" (the dog that was starved, put in a garbage bag and thrown down a garbage shute; luckily to be found and taken to a shelter and is slowly making a recovery) and "Lucky Lucy" (the pregnant dog who was tied to railway tracks and run over by trains, resulting in one of her legs being amputated; luckily rescued by a passer by).
I simply cannot begin to understand how someone could deliberately torture their dog! If you don't like them for whatever reason - take them to a pound! There's lots of people out there who would love to take them home. Why torture them?
I am the proud owner of two beautiful white boxer boys. There is absolutely no way in this world I would ever do anything to cause them any harm or discomfort. How could someone look into the loving and trusting eyes of their pet and hurt them?
I had to put down my beloved female boxer 6 weeks ago - she was very sick and old and in pain, but I was wracked with guilt for "murdering" my dog.
These vile, poor excuses for human beings - if caught - (Patrick's owner has been caught) - only get very minimal punishment. I heard this particular person could only face a maximum of 12 months imprisonment or a $1,000 fine - and that's it.
