Whitechapel- A grisly sight greeted metropolitan police called to an apartment building near the Art Gallery. In what is already being called another St Valentines Day Massacre, five mutilated corpses were found in a second floor apartment by the landlord, Max Leland.
“I thought a pipe had burst,” the ashen-faced man told this reporter as he was being treated for shock by ambulance attendants.
Another resident of the building was able to get a look inside before police cordoned off the flat, and told onlookers the victims appeared to be street performers. “They was dressed as clowns or mimes or something like,” Robert Allen, 42, a worker in a nearby shop said. He was also being treated for shock and had no further comment.
Metropolitan police had no comment except to state that the victims names could not be released until they were identified and next of kin informed.
Before he was taken to the hospital, Leland did say that the door had been locked from the inside and the bars on the windows did not appear to have been tampered with. The police had no comment on this.
