...Uh, hey.

[ Junpei's sitting on the floor of his room, a notepad with a bunch of stuff scribbled on it lying next to him. ]

This is kind of a random question [ except when it is not? ], but does anyone know how to make a pie? I mean, I think I've got the general idea behind it - you make the crust, the stuff that goes on the inside, and then put ( Read more... )

Is there one that's easiest? Because I should probably start with that one...

It depends? I find baking all sorts of things easy, but I guess apple pies are a safe recipe to try out. You alright with that?

Apple pie? Sounds good. It shouldn't be too hard to find some good apples to use, either.

Alright. Let's start with the ingredients first. You gotta have apples, though, first and foremost. Can't have apple pie without apples, heh. Maybe five big ones, or about eight medium-sized apples will do.

Okay, I'll make sure to get lots of apples.

[ Jotting down the numbers to be safe! ] What else?

Ah, right. Let's get to the pie crust first. You'll need flour, three cups would do. You'll be using about half a cup to help with the kneading though, so you'll just need to sift two and a half cups. You'll also need salt, sugar, and two sticks of butter, it's better if you use the unsalted ones, but if there isn't any available, you'll just have to skip the salt. You'll also need egg whites and a bit of cream, for an egg wash, so the top of the pie is nice and golden after it bakes.

[and then he goes on to explain how to make pie crust, using invisible baking tools.]

[ Taking copious notes because THIS MUST BE HIS LUCKY DAY. And this totally doesn't sound out of his league at all. ]

Flour, salt, sugar, butter, eggs, cream...I bet I can find all of that in the kitchen, no problem! [ Tapping his pencil decisively against the pad. ]

So once I've got the crust done, do I just throw in the apples and bake it?
