She Wrote me a Letter

Dec 30, 2002 01:04

Dearest Tag,

I write to you from a tiny cabin aboard a gorgeous ship known as the "Wishing Well" on my way to the exotic port of Dar'isholune. I have spent a most wonderful series of days and nights here, it is very different from our nights in space aboard captain Michaels' ship, where we would often find ourselves working through supper. There is food laid out all the time on this ship, Heut! I had never thought once that I could eat this much. Truly, I am a pig when placed in front of such a bounty.

I do hope that you take one of these cruises soon - I would enjoy very much going with you, if you would only let me. What was that ship you're on now? The Etherium? Sounds quite exciting - I'll bet every girl there is already fawning over you, you little heartbreaker! I told you they always go for the cold prim and proper types. Can't help themselves.

Ah, mi doleste, but you already knew that, didn't you? After all, a girl doesn't write to every first mate she's ever had, now does she? Are you surprised that I'm learning your language? It is tricky, really, in that it is much like Common where the tone matters just as much as the words, but it's quite a bit more beautiful, and there's such spare phrasing for complex concepts. Now I know why you called me Kinset, with that funny little scrunch nose face you always made. Impossible to sound it out without doing it - and strawberry really does describe me perfectly. Did you also know that it means danger? Of course you do, but I'm certain that's not how you meant it.

Ah, they are about to start dancing. Every night, dancing on the deck, as the stars go by. You dance the way you laugh, Heut. Fluid and wide. I do so miss you, even though it's scarcely been a month since I laid eyes on you. You simply must write soon, I do so look forward to your letters. Have you thought over my question from the last missive? I know it's a bit forward of me, but really, I do think that we feel much the same.

Your friend,
Bidgete
