Spring Clean :P

On Sunday we went out and purchased a new washer and dryer. Not just ANY washer and dryer, but a FRONT LOAD!!! We will finally be part of the elite.....

OK... I do know that it is much more common now, and that you don't have to be elite to own a set. But I am EXCITED!!! Truly excited!!! I can not wait for them to be delivered tomorrow so I can do some laundry. I am wondering just how white I can get my whites on the whitest whites setting?! Plus we pay for water here, and that bill arrives every 3 months. When it lands in my mailbox I have to talk myself into opening it. There is a sense of dread, and for some reason it seems like if I don't open the envelope, then we won't owe it :) Stupid... I know. However, once we start using our new machine... we will save SO much water!!! I want to say that my concern is 100% for the environment.... but the reality is that I wouldn't really care that much if I didn't have to pay :(

I did some math.... our current washing machine holds a fair amount... approx. 40 gallons of water per load. I will lower that slightly for the sake of fairness... and go with 38 gallons. I do at least 10 loads of laundry per week. Which equals 19,760 gallons of water per year... and that doesn't count the sheets, and blankets... just clothes!!!!!
The new washing machine uses appox. 18 gallons of water per load x 10 x 52 weeks = 9,360 gallons of water per year!!! That is a water savings of 10,400 gallons of water per year... seems impressive to me. Not to mention that I probably won't have as many loads as I can probably wash all of our jeans in one load instead of two!!! I am hoping that when the next water bill arrives, I will see a drastic difference!
And if I do (or shall I re-phrase that to WHEN I do), I will have to ask myself how we could ravage this earth of it's resources? I HAD to get the new washing machine... it was my DUTY!!!

It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow afternoon... normally I am very ANTI interupting nap time.... but I will deal with it to have my new set installed... I can not wait!!!!!!
