I'll keep this entry brief as I don't want to hog this computer too long whilst others wait rather patiently. My sister needed to work today, so she left me to have free reign on the city. I'm alive and kicking in New York, although I've washed my face three times so far today (my feverish face-washing courtesy of a Starbucks every three or four feet) and still feel dirty. Ah, the world of big cities. This has been one of the first times of my frequent trips to New York where I've come to appreciate the ocean of differences between New York and Boston. These differences, I hope to detail at length at a later time when I return home.
Even though I don't care much for tourist destinations I am continually mistaken for someone who actually knows where they are going and where things are. I mean, New York isn't terribly difficult to navigate, especially if you grew up in Boston but I am far from mastering this city. I don't know whether to be insulted or honored to be thought to be a New Yorker. Perhaps a bit of both.
Well, I'm off to meet my sister on 42nd Street. Tonight we're going to a Mets game at Shea proudly wearing our Red Sox hats and Mets shirts. Afterwards, we're going to head to my sister's favorite Red Sox bars and meet those members of Red Sox Nation who live deep in 'enemy territory'. I'm wicked excited! I'm really looking forward to spending the next couple of days with my sister.
Feel free to text me on my shiny new phone and check up on my exact location periodically via GPS (
