Last weekend was spent trying to show my friend,
flamingjuly a good birthday. Astute readers may remember how happy I was when
flamingjuly surprised my otherwise uneventful birthday with a crumpet with a candle. Luckily, things weren't all on me to make nice. A bunch of Hampshire people showed up, and despite some bumps things seemed to turn out well.
On Monday, I sent out applications to four Korean recruitment agencies and as of today I received three call-backs for interviews and one ready to offer me a job. I have a lovely résumé and pretty solid teaching experience but I wasn't expecting such a fast and overly positive response. Honestly, I find that a recruitment agency that is so quick to thrust a job at me before even getting to know me isn't my kind of a place. It looks like I can afford to shop around a bit, which is a really good feeling.
Today, I kept Nick and Letty company whilst they spent literally the whole day getting Nick's new passport. Apparently, they can process passports in a day but it very literally requires your whole day - and it did. So Letty and I walked around, played with Nick while he waited. Nick was the absolute last person to be processed and we left a very empty Federal building and went to eat delicious things in the North End (because dessert is better first) before heading back to my house and then onto
Shabu Zen for dinner. Nick and Letty are among my favorite people to spend time with, so today was lovely and involved harbor seals so how could it not be wonderful?
Tomorrow, I'm off to the capital of American provincialism to help my sister fix up her new apartment. In return she's taking me to a Mets game at Shea and to one of my favorite places in the world: the
Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I shall return to my home next Monday. I'm really looking forward to spending time with my family.
P.S
I finally got a new cellphone and joined the legions of people with modern features like actually working! It also has a ton of deliciously geeky features like a built-in GPS.
And on that subject feel free to stalk me over the next week via this site, which projects my last known location. Voyeurs go crazy, stalkers go nuts - you've never had it this easy. Yeah, and I have
Zagat on my phone - Huzzah!
