sabres v senators...

so the buffalo sabres take the president's trophy. meaning they had the top record in the NHL this year. they were phenomenal. they were fast. they were one of the top goal scorers. they never lost when up by two (2) goals at any point during the game.

but now they're down 0 games to 2 against the ottawa senators in the eastern conference finals, to decide who plays either detroit or anaheim for the stanley cup. mostly, because they can't score on a power play. and at some points, were even weaker when the other team was shorthanded.

some fans are givin' up. they don't wanna get hurt. why? because of the HUGE weight of a lack of a professional sports title (except lacrosse, and who cares about that?) since the bills won the AFL title back in 1965.

but those people that booed during the game. you're taking it WAY too seriously. other people are givin' up? not seriously enough. i mean, as far as being a "fan" goes. give up before it's over? c'mon man.

i'll admit, i'm not feelin' too optimistic at this point. and that makes sense, it don't look good. but if they win monday? if they DO finally find a way to fix the PP? which, like it looked last game... IS showing signs of improvement... i'm all over it again. i'm screamin' my head off, i'm hopin' they make it.

but if they don't? ehh. whatev. i'm lookin' forward to next year. it was a good run. but a crappy ending. i don't plan on dyin' any time soon, so i can wait.

it's that whole "never won one" thing hangin' over the city that makes it worse. and it should be let go.

and, shit, we've gotten to see way more playoff hockey than most teams in the league in the past few years. that's pretty great too.
