Saving name?
I actually started this post somewhere on my old Livejournal, but it's been hacked and, whatever, no one cares.
But anyway, I have the need to bring it to a bigger audience. I'll keep it short.
Is it just me, or do fans, mostly newer fans, act as if they have some sort of mental hadicap? This is not meant to be offensive to anyone, but what I gathered from it, most fans generally act without thinking, making a giant ass out of themselves. Acting stupid is not funny to the majority of people around you.
And why is 90% (just picking a good big number out of the sky) of this fandom so ignorant and annoying? From little things like "I have been in Germany, LOL THIS SOUNDS SO BAD." to actually making some stupid comment that can unintentionally offend thousands of people all over the world :/ And people who suddenly feel they can happily say "I support Nazi's/Communists" because of this show...and even act on it, expecting that the rest of the fandom just accepts their asshattery.
I just don't understand it, and I suppose I never will. The people who like this show generally have a bad name, at first I thought this wasn't fair, but when you look at how the fandom is constructed these days, I have to agree. Most of the fans that put themselves in plain view are usually girls between 13 and 16 years old, who are drooling over their precious yaoi opportunity.
Then we also have this other problem, which I will refer to as simply being ignorant and disrespectful. We're still dealing with countries, and not everyone on this planet is aware of hetalia. Some fans seem content with forgetting this, sorry to break it to you though, but Hetalia is not the world-known masterpiece you think it is.
What I am trying to say is, for the love of whatever is holy to you, think! Think about how disrespectful and ignorant a comment can be that you make, especially when you're nowhere close to the fandom. Think about how you act around others when regarding hetalia. Not only to safe your own face, but to show this fandom isn't as damn stupid as you make it look like by acting like some sort of 6 year old, by expecting your actions won't have any consequence! Every fandom has its ups and downs, but I truly believe when it comes to hetalia, that you have to be just that bit more careful, to be sure you won't make a ass out of everyone.
So, this is how I see it, but how many of you agree with my view? That it's mostly the yaoi loving fantard who ruins the show.
And yes, I am aware this is (a bit of) a elitist view, but seriously.

This doesn't mean I only blame yaoi fans, though that does seem to be what I suggest, they just stood out to me a lot since they gave me this impression the most. I know enough sensible yaoi fans as well, so don't feel attacked, I am calling out on the people who fit everything I said here. In other words, people who act like little screaming 5 year olds.
