Crescent used to be my favourite until I found FJ, so, that's one option. The commission's a flat 500 yen (about $6.25) as long as the item cost is under 4000 yen. So yeah, it's painful since you're paying more than double the cost if the auction's under 500 yen to start, but, that's what deputy services are.
Probably the best feature here is they allow you to bid far more than you've deposited. The downside to that is you can't use any of your deposit to pay.

Alternately, SOS Japan has only an 8% commission rate. I've never used it, so I can't tell you if it's reliable, but it's still a low-ish price?

Japamart is YJ exclusive, but the commission prices are in USD so you have a better idea of what you're paying. $5 for auctions under 2500 yen, $8 for auctions under 5000 yen.

They're not as good as FJ by any means. but. Unlike Treasure Japan, you can bid outside of business hours. so. There's that.

I checked SOS Japan. Its rate is 8%...as long as it's not under 1500 yens; their minimum fee's 1500 yens /orz

Crescent was the cheapest I found, but Japamart seems slightly cheaper. I'll check that one, thanks! :)

;n; I guess I didn't see that when I made my list.
.__. There's really no beating FJ. Unless the item you want is doujin.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you trying to get, anyway? :O Depending on rarity, there miiiight still be some around when I need to make my July FJ box to get some things off Animate. So worst case, we can split a box with one of my friends?

http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n92400661 <- This little baby. It's a rarity, since it wasn't sold on stores, but...it's been for a couple of weeks already, so I guess it can last longer.

Only problem is that I don't live in the States, so usually group buys are more expensive for me than buying it myself >>

fff Doujin.
I want to say try Rinkya since they have a huge sale on doujin commissions right now. But. .___. It's another credit card-only site.
Not that they say that.
They wait for you to make your account then spam you with emails asking for a credit card deposit.

Just a little sketchy.

Ah, well usually the thing is there's a ton of stuff in one box and we only pay our own shares of it. I mean, I just got away with only paying 2330 yen for a massive box that totaled at least 7000 yen to ship, a little while ago.

Given the items I bought, on my own that probably would've been 3000 yen at the lowest.
So not always the biggest save, but still something. And I don't think international shipping's too high from the states.

... But. Yeah. For doujin it's kind of... Get them when you can. Luckily doujin sellers seem to relist a lot, but, once you see a bid on it, there's no knowing if another copy'll show up.

I've bought single, thin doujins from sellers in the States and the cheapest option's never less than $7 for me (yeah, I'm in the most expensive region according to USPS /orz). I've shipped anthologies from Japan (using SAL, of course) for about the same price. Let's add to that the fact that I do have to pay a share as well for the Japan-US shipping and...yeah, you can see how it becomes more expensive :P
Now, since this is FJ and commissions are ridiculously cheap in there, I guess it'd be worthy for those cases :|a

Yeah, it's doujinshi xD I'm pretty sure it can be relisted for another week, but I don't think it'll last till July. So I'll give it a check to the alternatives you gave me...

idk, I'm in Canada. I've never had a parcel cost less than $30 from the states to myself, after FJ. xD And being used to Canada's postal rates, well... I don't know. I'd still say $7 is pretty cheap.

;u; But good luck with that person who's letting you in their box~
