There's been an influx of new people in the community - or at least some of the quieter people have started posting - so I think it's time for a reminder about community rules.
(
The rules can be found in the community's profile, both in Filipino and English, but they're under the cut as well for easier access. )

The assignment of the field is using two different words to mean the same thing for both forms of fanwork
That's why the original mod used a "/" because she intended that the other members of the community would use what would be appropriate for what they were posting - buod (or summary) for fanfiction and a preview for fanart.

I'm honestly trying not to be difficult here, but the wording of that rule about the "Buod/Preview" is weird because I've always taken that to mean that authors ought to include a small preview after posting the actual summary [buod] of their fanfic. And it looks like a common misunderstanding, since many fanfics have been posted with both a summary and a preview! I think it's just the use of that slash between buod and preview that's been throwing me off all this time. Something obviously didn't connect in my brain O_o

The slash is most commonly used as the word substitute for "or" which indicates a choice (often mutually exclusive) is present.
I hope that helped :)

Buod/Preview:
The rule starts out by translating from Tagalog to English. There's no problem in the use of the slash in this context. Then we get to the part about Buod/Preview. Again, there's really no problem in the use of the slash. However, it becomes confusing to the first-time reader because rather than translating from Tagalog to English the rule is now telling the poster to choose between two separate actions: To summarize or to put up an image preview. I can't think of a Tagalog translation for the English word "preview" so I can see why it's been left out the way it was. But this is an abrupt break from what the rule is initially asking the poster to do. And this is where the confusion really sets in because there's no consistency in what the rule wants the poster to do (Summarize? Put a preview? Do the Macarena?), so wouldn't it be easier to understand if the word "or" is written out between buod and ( ... )
