Deported to... Serbia? (5) anonymous December 7 2010, 16:56:59 UTC
Estonia and Croatia found they had one common interest, discussing how they rather wanted to be somewhere else. The conversation moved on from there.

“Once thing you have to understand is how everyone here has a list of grievances against everyone else,” Croatia said. “You could get into the mess and plot some vengeance on Serbia for threatening you or Montenegro for being an ass, no one would be surprised or outraged, but you might end up on someone's list too. Not sure if you want that. You probably have enough with whatever Soviet intrigues you are involved with back home.”

“Thanks, you're probably right,” Estonia said. “You're one of the sanest persons around.”

“I know,” Croatia said. “It's tough. That's why my list is the longest.”

Lithuania bit down his comment on that. He shouldn't destroy Estonia's chance to make more friends. He excused himself and let them continue to talk alone, only to get a proof Estonia's suggestion to stay together was more sound than it first appeared as Serbia cornered him.

“Someone made an interesting remark,” Serbia said. “You might accidentally ended up here because you pissed off Russia and not to spy. But that doesn't mean you won't spy now to regain Russia's favor...”

“Montenegro said that?” Once again Lithuania longed to punch him.

“Slovenia. He's more cynical than he looks.”

Lithuania tried to remember which one Slovenia was and failed.

“I don't want Russia's favor. I don't think Latvia and Estonia do either.”

That was a mistake. Serbia's eyes narrowed.

“Maybe you rather spy on both us and Russia to try to sell us all out. Maybe that's what you talked to Croatia about... Hm... I think I need to keep a close, close eye on you after all...”

Lithuania continued to walk. Serbia kept looking at him with suspicion until he was out of sight. He slowed down when he heard the unpleasant voice of Montenegro. Maybe he should turn back. He was going to, until he realized who the nation was talking to.

“Don't look this weak,” Montenegro said. “It's easy for other nations to end up going after the obvious target. Just saying...”

“I'm not,” Latvia said. His expression completely contradicted his protest.

“Russia decided to exile you. You can't be a complete wet blanket. Wouldn't bother to point it out if I thought you were. I've been annexed to Serbia. He remembered clearly I wasn't a domestic servant.”

The next moment Montenegro was gesturing with a huge knife from his belt, fit for slaughtering large animals with. Latvia's eyes widened but he didn't make a sound. Lithuania began to prepare to intervene. Montenegro looked like someone who got into brawls regularly but Lithuania tried to hold on to his material art skills and practice when he could, Montenegro alone shouldn't be too hard to handle..

“Here,” Montenegro said. “Try not acting like a victim. It makes me want to kick you just for fun.”

“Thanks?” Latvia said, holding the knife as if it was a poisonous snake.

“Try to use it for stabbing, not clutching helplessly,” Montenegro said. “Take notes from that crazy chick you live with. Russia and Serbia and I wouldn't mess with her.”

“Stop insulting me,” Latvia said and waved around the knife with surprising competence.

“Better,” Montenegro said and laughed.

It looked like Latvia didn't need saving after all. Lithuania breathed out.
