The portions on all their plates were meager. Russia's was slightly more. On the scale of admirable most of Russia's dinner companions would probably put him approximately at the level of 'slug', but he did strongly believe in the power of Communism and in some things tried to keep them all equal. Mostly.
"This is more than enough," Belarus sighed. "My love for my dearest brother sustains me." Then she glared at East for sitting between her and said beloved brother.
East took notice. "For god's sake, woman, I didn't ask to sit here!" he snapped.
"Ahaha! My little sister is so funny," Russia said, looking haunted.
Ukraine, sitting on Belarus' other side, linked an arm with her sister and shushed her softly. She didn't look at Russia. Their eyes hadn't ever met for the better part of a century. Georgia, Croatia, and Romania, sitting at the very far end of the table, wolfed down their food and tried to look very small. For the most part they succeeded.
"Prussia, you idiot, would you shut up?" Hungary demanded, more resigned than angry.
"I don't want to be Russia's human shield from his crazy sister!" East hissed back.
"It's n-not enough f-food for me," Latvia announced, drawing the attention of most of the table. "Th-this is--mmph!"
"Latviaaa~!" Estonia wailed, clapping his hand over Latvia's mouth.
Russia was very still. Lithuania went very pale and hastened to say, "W-we're of course very grateful for everything the Motherland p-provides for us!"
Russia said nothing for a long moment, smiling at Latvia, before he turned his smile on Lithuania. Lithuania gulped. "Perhaps you should acquire more food next time, yes?"
Lithuania opened his mouth to explain about rations and curfew and all things that Russia already knew. He clicked his mouth shut and nodded.
"Very good! Then we will not have problems with little Latviya's stomach." Lithuania turned a red approximately the shade of the Soviet flag when Russia patted his head. "These are things I trust you with, Litva. Do not let me down."
Lithuania shook his head, mute, and accidentally met East Germany's eyes across the table. East made a gun with his fingers and pointed it to his own temple, miming pulling the trigger.
Yeah, it was kind of like that. But why take a beating today that you can put off until tomorrow?

I should not find this as halirious as I do, but this is perfectly my sense of humour and your timing is so fantastic and I love the dry tone of it all and asdfghjkl, sooooo good.
