[Part 12] Germany x France / England x France (part 5b)

England saw France move, about to retort, but Italy beat him to it.
"That's not true! Germania is always working! He always comes home exhausted because he worries for the rest of us all of the time! And his plans aren't bad! They're working just fine! I'm not having big problems with my economy right now thanks to Germania's efforts!"
France bit his lip, looking away as he crossed his arms over is chest. England could sing for joy.
"Thank you, Italien," Germany said with a cough. "I'm trying my best to help. Please don't take it wrongly."
"If the lot of you just didn't go for the euro in the first place, none of this crap would have come to this level," England offered.
"Engeland!" Belgium said in a reprimanding voice.
"Well, it's true," he said haughtily. "And what's more is that you people are trying to have me pay for your bloody tomfoolery."
"O mój Boze, Anglia! Could we, like, not talk about this already?" Poland snapped. "I already like totes told you we're removing your rebate because it, like, doesn't make sense anymore! We like, already cut the allotted budget for the CAP, okay? And besides, we're totes gonna use the moolah for the cohesion policy, so like, chill already!"
England glared at him. "Oh and I suppose that justifies the fact that you're going to make me pay one and a half times more than Germany? How bloody convenient."
"If it makes you feel better, you're also paying twice more than Frankrijk," Netherlands said, distracted with lighting his pipe.
"Great," England replied sarcastically, breaking his pen in half. "While we're at it, why don't I join your bloody little euroclub too? We're all going to hell anyway."
Estonia adjusted his glasses. "I think that the euro still holds its virtues."
"You say that because you're planning to join next year," England pointed out. "Tell me, how has your unemployment rate been, old boy?"
Estonia scowled at him.
"The euro isn't bad!" Italy wailed, tightening his hold on Germany. "All we need to do is to follow Germania's--"
"Och will summun' shut that bloody doofus up? He's givin' me a headache!"
"Irland!"
"If you'd put Italy down for a bloody second and actually listen--"
"Stop picking on Italien and Deutschland!" Prussia screeched.
"Well then start listenin' and stop coddlin' that whiny little--"
A loud bang reverberated across the room and everybody stopped screaming at each other. Greece had banged his fist on the table, his other hand holding a handkerchief over his runny nose. He looked terrible, most probably because his deficit unexpectedly increased even after implementing austerity measures. He was swaying a little, as if he'd collapse any minute and he looked rather annoyed--that or he was squinting from the sunlight that spilled through the windows, England wasn't sure.
"This is going nowhere," Luxembourg said, massaging his temples. "I think we should take a break before we accidentally declare war on each other."
"Agreed," France said coldly, stood up and strode out of the room, Germany's eyes following him but his body staying in place, embraced by Italy.
England did his best not to smile as he stood up along with the other nations, intent on following France. (He can worm his way out of being denied rebate later. He'll find a way.) He found France in the pantry, drinking coffee angrily. He granted himself a smirk before wearing a solemn face and going in.
He stood beside the angry nation, pouring himself some tea. "That went rather well, don't you think?"
France glared at him from behind his cup. "Yes, if we had weapons, we would have been able to recreate the gladiators at the Roman coliseum," he replied sarcastically.
England laughed. "Funny you should say that. Maybe Germany will bring some next time? You know how he's always loved the Roman coliseum."

France gripped his cup tighter. England took a sip of his tea and winced. Was there no place that could serve good tea in bloody Europe other than England?
"You know, if he didn't spend so much time at the mediterranean, maybe Ireland wouldn't be half as upset," he said, nursing his cup and observing France from the corner of his eye. "Dear Ireland feels neglected, you know."
The other bit his lip. England could feel the angry heat resonating from France's body. It was beautiful.
"Frankreich?"
They both looked up, well, in France's case, glared up. France dumped the rest of his coffee into the sink and made his way out the door, not even sparing Germany a glance. England smiled and walked up to the doorway, hiding behind the wall and listening.
"I'm sorry I took so long. It took some time to calm Italien down. What did England want?"
He heard France's footsteps stop. "Why do you always ask me what Angleterre is thinking? Why don't you go and ask cher Italie? I'm sure he has all the answers."
"Frankreich?"
The footsteps continued in a faster pace until they disappeared. England chuckled to himself.
France, my dear sweet beautiful jealous France...
His tea suddenly tasted sweeter.

@shamelesslyEuropeananon Okay, how about this: I'll post that beer fountain story after this thing ends. I haven't decided whether I'm putting it here or in the main comm because I'm sceptical about de-anoning. Haha oh and the names thing just felt more organic.
Out of curiosity, how many of you actually want this to end in FrUK and how many want it to end in Ger/Fr? I'm really interested to know. Try to update me as the story goes on, if you can. :P It won't change the ending I had in mind at all, I promise.

I like this, it's really getting better and better. Well, in this time of crisis, everyone can turn out to be a jerk. England is not really well himself (worse than France and Germany, even), and being angry at Iceland not paying his debt is totally understandable ^^;.
I fully support Ger/Fr. There're so few fics of them in this fandom, and I'm a sucker for historical canon, which they undoubtedly are. I'm also a devoted fan of FrUK, but in case of modern EU, it would always be Ger/Fr for me XDDD.

I am rooting for Germany all the way, since I finished reading the prompt. And I am quite an England/France shipper, love/hate relationships are delicious, so that says something, no? I agree with Canada, I think France looks happier with Germany (not in general, mind, just in this setting in this fic).
I would cry if it ends with FrUK in the end because I can imagine how hurt dear Deutchland will be. Not that England won't be hurt if it ends with GerFr, but I have to choose one ain't I! Damn it. Maybe the one losing out in the end can find solace in someone else's arms? I really don't want to see any one of them hurt, but right now, especially Germany.
He's role now seems so much similar to the guy in all those romance movies who loves his lover, but are always losing out to his lover's former "true love". I wish he would win for once?
If I still have not convinced you, then lastly, think about how rare Germany/France is? Pretty please?
Okay, I've voiced all my desires, just warn us if anything bad is going to happen to dear Germany?

I just realized I've never commented on this fic which is such a shame because I've been enjoying it so much. I love the difference in France's relationship with England and his relationship with Germany. I loved America and Canada and how you wrote them together, so hard to do in a way that I find endearing instead of annoying but you nailed it. Although he only had one line I think I fell a little bit more in love with Poland during this fic.
I love your France also, awesome tough and smart while still being so very high maintenance. I think him and Germany are adorable together, all sweet and happy. On the other hand I feel really sorry for Germany because I firmly believe in the end only England can manage being in a relationship with France for more then a couple decades.

This fic has what is one of the best "nation meeting lol" scenes that I can remember reading - I really enjoyed all the different voices speaking on behalf of RL politics here, ha. I also adore your inclusion of Prussia, and his voice here, and Greece. And Ireland. And Belgium and the American boys ♥
As for the solution: I have to say that while I quite like France/Germany, you had me completely sold on the FrUK from the very moment you put the image in my head of the two of them so desperately in love, and so desperately not knowing how to make it work. The line about how they still love each other after how much they've hurt each other was intense. I just want to see them work out ):

sldkjlskjgkls. I feel really bad for wanting Francis to end up with Ludwig. Man, to think that FrUk is one of my favorite pairings, too.. I'm so heartless! D:

The anon who left the second comment can totally sympathize. You could probably realize this from my comment. FrUK is one of the pairings that I actively seek out and even planning to fill a couple, but I still root for Ludwig, D:
It's just the Ludwig here that makes me, I don't know, want no hurt befall him? I blame our dear author!anon for making my heart break for Ludwig. And now I am pretty sure she will do the same to me for Arthur, too! *cries*

First comment anon can sympathize too. I'm a proud FrUKer. But Germany... he's tried so hard, in this fic and historically ;_;. Together with France, he achieved the unachievable, set an example to the world that even the most bitter enemies can become best friends, if they're willing to leave all bad blood behind. I can't stand seeing him fail, or seeing France break his heart - how could he? after all they've had together;_;.forgive my rambling, please. I just couldn't stop when Franco-German friendship is concerned ^^;;
Also, I love Ger/Ita, they're really cute. Still, they didn't work it out in the part, I'm not sure how can they make it work now I'm not even sure Italy cares about Germany so much these days
Poor England, I really hope he's all right in the end. He's strong and this is not the first time he fall out with France, so he'll overcome...er I guess *cries with you*

Looks like I'll be one of the few FrUKers who will still root for FrUK here. I'm really liking this, and much as the relationship you portray between Ludwig and Francis makes me melt with adorable, England just... breaks my heart. <3 He's so utterly, completely alone. Ludwig has at least Feliciano - if Francis chooses Arthur, he still has a way out, somebody who cares for him so very, very deeply. Arthur, as I see it, doesn't. Then again: OT3!
On a side note, author!anon, I love how you're describing EU-relationships and the whole euro debate - it's rarely seen in Hetalia fics (that I read, anyway, maybe there are some out there?) and the entire fic is just so good I'll follow it to the end, whichever pairing wins over.
ShamelesslyEuropean!Anon says the perfect solution is...

THREESOME ~~ or Ger/Fr
There's so little Ger/Fr out there, they deserve this chance. And you're writing it so well and making it all work so well...as others have said, your Germany cares so much about France here...! He truly wants to trust him, wants the best for him, while England has been acting kind of...selfish. More concerned about his own feelings than France's (but then again, that's exactly how France rolls too; they are SO MUCH alike...and their desperate love through the ages is so romantic...)
I think the question was a little unfair, because we've yet to see inside England's head. As I said before, like many people here I'm a hardcore FrUK fangirl, they are my OTP of the series, and you're doing them a glorious service here too, but like many people here, at least until next part...I'm siding with Germany^^ (and to the anon who said England has no one...England has the North American brothers! They obviously love him a lot. None of them are alone, really. England is just not used to not holding France's undivided attention for good or bad)
The fic continues being awesome. Belgium was badass there, and the bros adorable. I love that they side with different people (Canada with Germany, America with England), and that they don't want to get involved in this (because really, when have European affairs brought them anything good?) but will end up involved anywayXD
Prussia is the Most Awesome Brother Ever to Walk the Earth. He was so cute forcing hs little bro to sleep. And I love that Germany still has the instinct to obey when he gets serious (I wonder if Prussia will have a couple of words with his friend Frankreich -btw, still loving the name policy- about getting his brother so stressed. Headcanon dictates that Prussia is generally easy-going and fun except where his brother is concerned; but maybe also his friends, and he doesn't want to get involved like the twins)
I absolutely love it whenever you mention Real Life politics. That meeting was the best I ever read, no question. And all the things happening between the countries, like the FrUK defence co-op thing or Italy's happy gay festXD. You and your research are fantastic <3
Jealousy is fascinating. I love England's glee at the gulf appearing between France and Germany, which by the way was astoundingly believable and realistic (and somehow France was really hot in his jealousy and hurt and lashing insecurity, and damn, so very Englandish). Whenever he tried not to smirk or laugh outright at France's reactions (and the fact that he could read them so well when Germany remained oblivious speaks of how well they know each other), and I could actually hear his inner gloating without you saying so... I'm also fascinated by Italy's actions, because now my mind is going wild: did Italy do that on purpose? does he have feelings for Germany, simply doesn't think France is good for him, or is he just his oblivious, affectionate and clingy self? That France could get so worked up over Italy's affections to his lover...seems Germany and France have some insecurity issues in their relationship.
I can't wait to read the next part and get inside that little island's head. England, however malevolent so far, is absolutely fascinating here. And damn, I re-read the ending to write this...you make me ship Germany/France so hard!! That last confused and hurt "Frankreich?" by Germany completely broke my heart ;_; I hope we get a glimpse of how desirable England sees Franc,e the same way we did with Germany's pov
Man, I just realised this fic is a WIN/WIN situation for me, since I love both pairings like crazy...thank you so much for it ^^

I absolutely suck at keeping up with the news. >_>; Which makes me appreciate it even more that you're taking real life into the fic so much. It's just delicious to read. Damn that reminds me, I think I once had an idea for a "Hetalia News" community which would be dedicated for Hetalia interpretations of current events... And I love the way you do the characters, all of them. *__* I really like your Ireland and Belgium, it's great to see rarely used characters done so well.
I... I'm all for FrUK, still. I just feel bad for saying it since GerFra-shippers get so little compared to FrUK-shippers. Also I can't help but to wish for more GerIta.... On the other hand I don't mind a GerFra-ending either. Idk, just pick the one you feel more accurate, I say. That's usually the best for a fic.

I'm loving this story so much, and I loved how you gave France insecurities as well, seeing as I also like GerIta... I would absolutely adore if it ends with France/Germany, there's definitely none of them compared to FrUK, but the FrUK you have had in the fic(and maybe some more later on?) is good fanservice, but being a Germany-fangirl I love him so much..! Rambling there, so TL;DR would be France/Germany!

I love this fic so much it's almost embarrassing, because it has current EU politics, and I love how badass your other characters are (*cough* Belgium *cough* Greece *coughcough* Estonia, Poland and all the others). Thank you so much for having made my otherwise rather shitty day, writer!anon!<333
Also, this anon is notsosecretly cheering for Germany. I mean, maybe it's because he's my country and I love the irl friendship between Germany and France so much, or maybe it's because your Germany is so sweet and worried here. In any case, I would love this so much if France could be staying with Germany. Although normally, I don't believe in monogamous relationships in Hetalia. I mean, how would that even work in politics? So, do whatever you feel is right, it's your fic after all?:)

Sorry, can't help it. I've been to Germany and it's one of the best experiences in my life, I just love it so much.
Although normally, I don't believe in monogamous relationships in Hetalia. I mean, how would that even work in politics?
I remember someone else commented before that monogamous relationships wouldn't be good for international affairs, I laughed so hard back then. It is totally true. Aren't the foreign ministry of practically every single country boasts how many countries have great relationships with them? They are all trying to woo as many as possible, aren't they?
But I guess since it is fiction, anything is possible! I can see reasons behind both pairings here. Honestly, I can see reasons behind everyone X everyone in Europe, Europe is practically a big orgy, ;_;

I don't normally like to tell authors what to do but ... you asked ... :-D
I want France to stay with Germany and I want them to have a healthy, happy, respectful relationship and I want lots of EU politics and I want Germany to be super angry over France's boss's Roma removal policy and I want Germany to withhold sex until France does something about it.
And I want England to be happy and stop trying to mess up other nations' relationships, I thought fishing in troubled waters was France's M.O., and anyway jealously is unattractive, and double anyway France and England tried how many times to make it work, and they just can't do it, and the least England can do is try to be happy for his ex.
And I want America to try to trust Germany a bit more, and m-maybe I want America to get it on with Canada, but that is because I'm a perv and because the way they talk to each other with their eyeballs is just adorable.
And I want Ireland to never sit down and shut up; she can drink as much as she damn well likes and somebody has to shout down Prussia.
Also I want all of EU and also the North American Bros to get better from the recession but there is not much authornon can do about that ;_;
Also recaptcha says 1766 so maybe throw some historical shit in there, who knows.
"That's not true! Germania is always working! He always comes home exhausted because he worries for the rest of us all of the time! And his plans aren't bad! They're working just fine! I'm not having big problems with my economy right now thanks to Germania's efforts!"

As I said before, like many people here I'm a hardcore FrUK fangirl, they are my OTP of the series, and you're doing them a glorious service here too, but like many people here, at least until next part...I'm siding with Germany^^
(and to the anon who said England has no one...England has the North American brothers!
I can't wait to read the next part and get inside that little island's head. England, however malevolent so far, is absolutely fascinating here. And damn, I re-read the ending to write this...you make me ship Germany/France so hard!! That last confused and hurt "Frankreich?" by Germany completely broke my heart ;_;
I hope we get a glimpse of how desirable England sees Franc,e the same way we did with Germany's pov
Man, I just realised this fic is a WIN/WIN situation for me, since I love both pairings like crazy...thank you so much for it ^^

I remember someone else commented before that monogamous relationships wouldn't be good for international affairs, I laughed so hard back then. It is totally true. Aren't the foreign ministry of practically every single country boasts how many countries have great relationships with them? They are all trying to woo as many as possible, aren't they?
But I guess since it is fiction, anything is possible! I can see reasons behind both pairings here. Honestly, I can see reasons behind everyone X everyone in Europe, Europe is practically a big orgy, ;_;

Also I want all of EU and also the North American Bros to get better from the recession but there is not much authornon can do about that ;_;
Also recaptcha says 1766 so maybe throw some historical shit in there, who knows.
