“’Ello?” The voice from the other end of the line twisted Arthur’s already protesting stomach into uncomfortable knots. He tried to speak, but the words caught in his throat. “Iggy, I know it’s you. I have caller ID.”
Bollocks.
“Um... yeah... Alfred, it’s me.”
“Yo, Iggy~ You didn’t send me a card! It’s my birthday!”
“I never send you a card...” Arthur mumbled, resting his forehead on his palm and closing his eyes.
“Well you should! It’s my birthday, Iggy. I expect cards. And presents. I like chocolate, you know.”
“I know...”
Pause.
“So... um... Iggy? What do you want? I know you’re not calling to wish me happy birthday or whatever.”
“I, uh, I wanted to ask you something.” Damnit, why was this so difficult? Arthur suddenly felt ridiculous, acting like some schoolgirl with a crush, barely able to speak without stammering. “I...”
“Aw, Iggy, do you want to come to my birthday party?”
Stop.
Wait.
Arthur’s heart almost punched a hole in his chest. His throat felt tight. There had been something most definitely mocking in the younger man’s voice. He didn’t expect Arthur to say ‘yes’, he was just asking because he was a complete and utter idiot and never took Arthur’s feelings into account. The Englishman felt his face heat, clutching the telephone so tightly that his knuckles whitened.
“Yes,” he said eventually, listening with almost smug gratification to the stunned silence that his response gained.
“Eh? Really? You do?”
“Well, yeah, sure... I mean... If you-”
“Heck yeah! Get your butt over here, Iggy! I can show you the decorations and you can help me with stuff, it’ll be fun!”
“Fun... yeah...”
“Of course it will be. I’ve always wanted you to come to one of my parties.”
“You-”
“Let me know when you land, I’ll come get you! See you soon, Arthur!”

Arthur stared at the phone in his hand. He swallowed. That had been far too easy. He left the building in a daze and he hailed a taxi, telling the driver to take him back home. It was only as he climbed back into the car with a bag that a detail of the conversation hit him, and one hand flew to his lips.
“He called me Arthur...”

“Arthur? Is that you?”
Arthur was groggy when he answered his phone the next morning. The jet-lag had hit him hard and he propped himself up on one elbow, needing several seconds to recognise the voice of the young prince.
“William, good morning, yes, it’s me.”
“I hope the both of you managed to work out your differences.”
A warm arm slipped around Arthur’s waist, his bed-mate drowsily nuzzling his shoulder and mumbling at him to go back to sleep. Arthur turned over, wincing at the faint discomfort in his lower back, and pressed his lips to the other’s blonde head, hearing a quiet, happy sound as he did.
“You could say that,” he replied as his hand slid gently over warm skin.
“Marvellous! So, it won’t be happening again?”
Alfred moved, pushing Arthur onto his back and leaning over him, that trademark mischievous grin on his face and a sparkle in his eyes. He leaned down for a kiss, and the older man placed one fingertip lightly against his lips, smiling as he cleared his throat and replied.
“No, it definitely won’t be happening again.”

The only thing that could have made it better would be if the anon decided to write out the smut (makes puppy eyes) and Prince William realized just HOW Arthur cleared the air HURRHURR.

Mmmm.. I find this a bit forceful to be honest.
The gap in the middle is, how to say this... It's missing quite a lot, like how did it turn out like that? And it's a birthday party, what about the others? How did they even end up in the same bed?
Well sure it's up to the readers how they want to imagine it, but then we wouldn't need people to actually fill the requests if they make almost no differences than not filling.
tl;dr - I man... You just gave us a beginning and the ending D: What about the middle part?! Isn't that what we actually wanted? *Pouts*
Anon did think about writing smut, but also has a lot on her plate at the moment so decided to leave it to imagination. If it is truly wished, however, anon will 'fill in the middle', as it were.
LOL, anon. OP loled her head off. Poor Arthur! I felt bad for him, because he has the Constitution soundtrack in his headXD. And the fact that one of the PM seat national secrets is that their nation behaves like a lovesick girl the same day every year...lol (made me picture the incoming PM listening to the former one giving him this verry serius piece of information) And I squeed when King William appeared. That was made of pure WIN (nto to mention the fact that the PM went to recruit Higher Help in his person, lol. I love that the personificaiton of England is unescapably united to the monarchyXD) Hey, and your America was very IC!! meaning he was an insensitive prick at first, but then went kinda soft, and very enthusiastic all along.
And happy ending!! Yayy!!! (the meddling of the king, calling very obviously the morning after was greatXD)
