The room remained silent for awhile as all the information was processed. And then Matthew spoke up.
“Well congratulations Alice.” He put on his best fake smile, patting her back. “You’re going to be a great mom!”
“Thanks Matt…” Alice said, sitting down on her computer chair. “You’re taking it a lot better than dad will.”
“I don’t envy you with what he’s going to do, Alice.” Matthew walked over to the bed and sat beside Arthur. “And if you’ll excuse me, I need to talk to Arthur alone.”
“Well, okay.” Alice shrugged as she left her room. Arthur wanted to scream for her to stay because he knew better than to be left in a room with the school’s #1 hockey player whose older sister just announced she was pregnant.
“You bâtard!” Matt growled once Alice left the room, giving Arthur a hard punch to the face. Arthur fell backwards but it’s not like he wasn’t expecting it. Hell, if that was all he was going to get he’d be grateful! “How dare you get Alice pregnant!? Her life’s down the drain now!”
Arthur sat back up and rubbed his jaw, giving Matthew his most serious look. “Her life is not in the drain. I’ll make sure it isn’t.”
“Just because you couldn’t keep it in your fucking pants-”
“Matthew, you do realize it’s your sister coming at me for sex constantly, right? Your sister who managed to convince me against better judgment to never wear condoms. It takes two to tango and I take blame where it’s deserved, but don’t make me sound like the one pinning her down and forcing her to have sex when I never once went to her for it!” Arthur snapped. He had always been shy in sexual matters and Alice would have to take things into her own hands. And he should’ve listened to that nagging voice instead of listening to her ‘I’m on the pill, don’t worry~’ argument. She was such an airhead he should’ve known she would’ve missed a pill.
“I don’t care if Alice rode you into the bed every night while you tried to push her off!” Matthew glared, cracking his knuckles. “YOU got my sister pregnant. You’re one hundred percent responsible!”
“I acknowledge that.” Arthur almost flinched but still managed to hold his ground. If he could stand up to Matthew, then maybe he’d have a slim chance of standing up to Alice’s father. “I’m going to do everything possible for her.”
“You better. Or you’ll wish you were never born.” The look in Matthew’s eyes told Arthur he was completely serious. Oh these next few months were going to be hell with her family’s scrutiny. “You know our mom would be pissed too, right? She wanted Alice to get through college for her sports. Alice swore she would at her funeral, you know that? And now because of you she won’t.”
Arthur looked aside. While his mother died in a truly tragic manner, Alice’s mother was a real hero. And yet the newspapers and magazines weren’t filled with her story like Arthur’s mother was. No, she had a front page appearance on the local newspaper for one day only. She was a soldier in Iraq, only a few weeks from coming home to stay when she was killed by a suicide bomber. Alice and Matthew’s mother was just a statistic now. And while the two of them handled it well, Alice gained her drive for life from her mother’s death and it was true. This was going to throw a wrench into Alice’s perfect plans.
“We’ll find a way for her to go to college.” Arthur stated. He’d make sure it happened. For Alice, for her mother, and for their child.

“You better.” Matthew sighed, standing back up. “Alice might seem strong, but on the inside I’m sure she’s absolutely terrified right now. Just… just take care of my big sis, alright? I don’t like this one bit but it’s not like I can tell you what to do. Just know if you ever cause harm for her or my niece or nephew after this, you’ll regret it.”
“I really will take care of her, Matthew. And our child. I’m really scared too. But I know her and I will get through this together.” Oh yes, Arthur was a lot more afraid than he’d admit. What would it do to his reputation? People were going to talk about him and Alice like crazy. He’d probably get pity from every guy he knew and dirty looks from all the girls. Teachers would probably ask if he knew what he was getting into and chide him for this. And this was going to last the whole school year too.
“You two had better. I don’t want my big sister running to me crying because you abandoned her when she’s further along.”
“I won’t. I promise I won’t.” Arthur gave him a weak smile only to have it be returned with a scrutinizing gaze.
“If you say so.” Matthew crossed his arms and walked to the door, motioning for Alice to come back inside. “Again, congratulations Alice. I hope you’ll be alright.”
“I’ll be fine, Matty. Ya get to be an awesome uncle in a couple months.” Alice walked back in the room, sitting beside Arthur again.
“Right. Well I’ve got a date with Francine so I’ll talk to you later Alice.” Matthew smiled softly at her before glaring once more at Arthur as he left the room. Arthur sighed and laid back on her bed. Well now there was one threat handled and Alice just found out she was pregnant. What else was going to happen?

I don't know why I give them such painful situations but I do anyways. And that's not even all I've got up my sleeve family related in this fic. I'm hoping to not butcher this too much because well, my mom had me at 16. So I'm trying for a more accepting father than the one I had. And there will be some comments in here straight from what she's told me about high school and being pregnant with me.
I'm loving Matthew's brother protective-ness over Alice. Especially because of what happened to their mother and everything. It shows Matt really does care so much for his big sis :3
I'm afraid how the father's reaction is going to be. Please he is accepting and not the kind that would disown his child because of that. *sighs*
Its interesting you're adding some real-life experience from your mother. It helps to make the story in depth with the entire situation.
