Water ripples always start small [part 9] anonymous February 19 2010, 03:39:55 UTC
Feliciano remained seated, staring down at his hands blankly. So this was it, any hope he had of ever being with Germany was over. With a strangled sob he buried his face in his hands and gave into dispair.

An hour later someone threw a coat over him and mumbled something about the after party and how he was missed and they were looking for him. He looked up just in time to see Arthur leave the church, stiff backed and moving like a man walking towards his own execution.

Watching him leave, Feliciano remember the conversation that he had overheard. I won't be like that. he thought derterminetedly as he stood, I won't let the one I love get stolen away without telling him how I feel about him. Slipping on his jacket he headed out of the Church and made his way to where the reception was being held.

The reception was much more lively then the wedding, with nations loosening their ties and having some fun, some more then others. Arthur was already there and was drinking all he could get his hands on in a fashion that seemed typical to anyone who didn't know him that well.

Other nations, more sober ones were chatting it up with Francis and Ludwig or their wedding party. Alfred was whining at Matthew that he hadn't been one of the best men like the Canadian while the girls were all chatting about how pretty Elizaveta and Seychelles looked in their grooms' maids dresses.

Feliciano went over to join Arthur at the bar, taking a seat next to him and shaking his head when the bartender asked if he wanted anything. "I'm not going to give up. Wedding's between nations don't always last long and I know neither of them are happy with this."

"Thaz what she said…" Arthur replied to Feliciano's quiet comment, though it didn't seem sober enough to make sense, "He wash sush a preddy gurl, you know? 'cept he wazzn't sush a gurl, more of a boy in drag…"

"You're pathetic." Feliciano said. "You could have parted on a good note, kept in contact but you're too much of a coward. I won't be like you. I'm going to tell Ludwig how I feel about him and that I'll wait to the end of time for him if need be."

"Whosh pathetic? I tell you what! I never even luved him except fer once! That was a loooong time ago…" Arthur said standing up and grabbing Feliciano by the tie so he couldn't run. His drunken face was right up in Feliciano's and it looked like he was picking for a fight. That is till Alfred and Gilbert came over and disentangled the two and Alfred took Arthur off to go cool his head while Gilbert asked if he was alright.

Feliciano nodded at Gilbert's question. "I'm alright, I just told him something he didn't want to hear." He said as he offered Gilbert a lopsided grin. "Gilbert, are you happy for your brother?"

"Well, Francis is one hell of a lay, that's for sure!" Gilbert said with a wide shit eating grin, "and being the best man means I get a chance at the ladies so the wedding part is awesome too!"

"Is Ludwig happy?" Feliciano asked, chancing a glance towards the very man he spoke of.

"It's hard to say with Ludwig. He's never really happy, you know. Not since the last war," Gilbert says around a tired and sad sounding sigh, "but you know, Francis, he'll take care of him. That I trust in."

Feliciano nodded, he didn't doubt Francis would take care of Ludwig but it wasn't what he wanted to hear. "I'm going to tell him I love him." He said to Gilbert, his mind already made up.

"Oh? Well you may want to wait till Francis is dragged off by Antonio…" Gilbert said, seeming unfazed by Feliciano's proclamation.

"You're not surprised?" Feliciano asked, suprised at Gilbert's lack of surprise.

"Well, not really. I kinda figured that was what eating you and him up…but you know, you should have said something earlier, you and that drunkard both." Gilbert said with a raised brow, taking the beer Feliciano hadn't seen him order

"After the war. . .I didn't think he wanted me near him." Feliciano admitted, watching Gilbert. "The night I went to see him, there was so much hate in his eyes."
