Tuna Surprise [2/2] anonymous November 23 2009, 01:17:57 UTC
At any other time Russia would have appreciated the hug. Unfortunately, America was squeezing him too tightly, and Russia's stomach decided that it had had enough abuse. He roughly pushed America away, clamped a hand over his mouth and bolted for the bathroom. He managed to get there in time and hung his head over the toilet as he retched. Guilt twisted in his chest. He had failed. America would surely know how bad the food was now...he was going to be so sad! And what would he think of Russia? It was beyond rude to let the host know that he had hated the food... What would this do to their relationship? Things had been going so well lately...would America take this as an insult? Would he even want to see him anymore? Russia felt like crying (real tears this time, not just ones brought on by torturing his taste buds) when he felt a hand rest against his back. Russia tried to take a deep breath and apologize, but his stomach heaved again. America just rubbed his back gently as his vomited.

“S-sorry for this,” he managed when his stomach allowed him to speak again. “I-I really did try-”

“Aw Russia,” America said softly. “Why didn't you tell me you were sick?”

Russia stopped mid-apology. Sick?

“You poor guy, you must have been feeling awful all evening! I bet you've got that stomach bug that's been going around.”

Russia fought the urge to smile. How could he be so lucky? He couldn't let this bit of good fortune go to waste, and put on his most pathetic expression. “I did not want you to worry.”

“Well I don't want you just to suffer in silence, okay? Tell me if you feel bad from now on. Well, don't worry about that. I'm going to take good care of you, don't worry.”

The evening just seemed to get stranger and stranger, and five minutes after that exchange Russia found himself propped up on America's couch, buried under a pile of blankets and with a thermometer in his mouth.

“How you doing, buddy?” America asked, having come back from the kitchen with a can of ginger ale. “I found something that might settle your stomach. But let's get a look at your temperature first, huh?” He pulled the thermometer out of Russia's mouth and frowned at the numbers for a minute. “Well, you don't have a fever. That's good!”

“But I still don't feel good,” Russia insisted with a little pout. It wouldn't do for America to start doubting the legitimacy of Russia's illness.

“I know, pal,” America said, petting Russia's hair soothingly. “Do you need anything? I could whip up something if you're feeling hungry-”

Russia's stomach started churning again at the very thought. “N-no food.”

“Okay, we'll steer clear of food for a little while. I don't want to make you puke again.”

“Can you just sit with me? I think that would make me feel better, da.”

“Sure thing!” America said, taking a seat on the couch. Russia sighed happily and scooted closer until his head was in America's lap. He heard America laugh quietly and started combing his fingers gently through Russia's hair until the larger country had just about nodded off. Maybe that casserole wasn't such a bad thing after all, he thought as he drifted off to sleep in America's lap.

OhmyfreakingGod, that was adorable. Poor Russia, having to eat such a thing, I'm glad he was able to play the "stomach bug" card. So cute!

So adorable!!! Loved everything about it, loved seeing them like this <3

On another note, tuna does not belong with casseroles, or anywhere else besides a sandwich...

I loved this so much! xD Poor Russia! Good thing America didn't realize!

American!Anon is feeling a little weird, though... People say that American food is disgusting and stuff like that, but.... I like American food xD I didn't know it was so horrible lol I was raised on American, Italian, Mexican, and fast food! >:D

Though, I must admit, I don't like tuna cassarole all that much. But it's not THAT bad.

-is not offended. just kind of... curious-

Honestly, I like American food too. But the joke seems to be that America's a terrible cook...then again, the Hetalia fandom seems to think that everything American is uncultured and inferior. *sigh*

American!anon loves american food as well.

The whole stereotype-ish thing about American food is partially true me thinks. When I studied abroad in Italy, many of my german and italian friends that had visited America have told me that our milk and meat tasted weird, not bad but weird.

Anyways, love your story authoranon. Can't get enough of those two!
