"Aren't they nice?" Russia cooed as he wriggled his foot. "Germany said they are part of his military's uniform! They are very shiny, aren't they?"
Latvia agreed that they were shiny, and to Lithuania's surprise, even asked if he could touch them. But Russia laughed and shook his index finger in playful admonition.
"Oh, no, no, little Latvia! Even though they are shiny, they are also very dirty from walking around in Moscow's snow," Russia laughed. "Perhaps later, when they are cleaner. They are very special, after all, because they come from our new friend." Lowering his leg, Russia scooted his chair back to the table. "It is so nice to have friends," he said dreamily, to all of them and none of them in particular. Conversation ceased then, as if a great winged seraph like the ones Lithuania had seen in the house's strangely undisturbed chapel's many ikons had entered the room.
"More bread, master?" Lithuania asked pleasantly.
"Oh," Russia turned his smiling face to his lover. "Da. Thank you, Lietuvos!"
Conversation remained topical after that. And when Latvia and Estonia had finished their supper, Russia excused them to finish their chores, or to spend the rest of the evening as they wished if they had finished already.
As Lithuania cleared the table, Russia's arms encircled his waist again.
"Leave those," he whispered, his lips grazing Lithuania's ear. "The dishes can wait for now. I would like you instead to come to the sitting room and remove my boots. Oh, yes, I know you usually do this long before supper, but since you were late, and since I did want to show these to your brothers, it is all right."
"Yes, master. I will be happy to assist you."
"Good," Russia's violet eyes nearly sparkled as he moved to the dining room's door.
"Oh, yes. And there is still the matter of your punishment~" he chirped over his shoulder as he reached the lintel.
Gasping, Lithuania nearly dropped the plates then and there.
