“…You wanker! You said we were watching Indiana Jones! This is obviously not! Are you starting to mix up your movies?” Arthur inquired, but Alfred had noticed a lack of the normal heat. So, the Briton happened to like this movie? That played out to the American’s advantage quite nicely. Alfred smiled and glanced at his companion, taking a moment to study the Englishman’s body language.
“Did I say Indiana Jones? I must have been lying, then. I coulda sworn that I’d said Princess Bride was the movie we were watching!” the American replied before hushing the Brit. He honestly loved the movie, Princess Bride. It was shamelessly one of his favorites, although he wasn’t about to tell that to the whole world. What would the fun be if everyone knew everything about Alfred?
About halfway through the movie, Alfred noticed that Arthur had been inching his way closer to the American. He hid a smile, pleased that at least subconsciously the personification of England still wanted to be close to the American. There was also the slight chance that the movie had made Arthur realize the love that was still between them. Alfred had known that the Brit was at least attracted to the American for a long time, but he was afraid of flat-out denial. Hopefully, Princess Bride had helped to push Arthur in the right direction.
“Hey…Arthur,” the American waited until he had the Briton’s attention, the ending credits of the finished movie adding a softer light to the room, “Are you seeing anyone right now?”
“Th…That’s hardly an appropriate topic! Especially after watching this movie!” Arthur sputtered, indignant. Alfred had been alive long enough to know how people truly felt about a topic through their body language, even if his or her voice implied something different. Truly, it was the body that conveyed the truer emotions, at least in Alfred’s eyes. He noticed that Arthur held himself as a man who had been lonely for far too long would. It gave the blond a small hope that things would go smoothly between them.
“You didn’t answer the question,” Alfred pointed out, sky blue locking onto emerald green. The Briton squirmed a little, uncomfortable with admitting the truth. That was fine; the American would wait as long as it took for the answer. After a few minutes of awkward silence, Alfred finally got his answer.
“…No, I’m not,” the blond Briton admitted softly, looking away. Alfred’s eyes softened and he leaned closer to Arthur. The other blond’s eyes snapped back to meet the American’s intense ones, a light blush dusting Arthur’s cheeks by then. “Alfred, what are-“
Arthur was unable to complete that question as the American stole his breath away in a soft, chaste kiss. Alfred waited a few seconds before attempting to pull away. The attempt was dashed when Arthur leaned closer and claimed the American’s lips. Both of their eyes had closed, Alfred allowing the Briton to deepen the kiss, although he most certainly fought for dominance. When the two broke for air, the blond American decided that now was most certainly the time to say what had been on his mind.
“Am I allowed to point out the obvious when I say that I love you?” Alfred asked, panting a little. A smile had broken out on his face, although it turned into one of amusement when Arthur slapped the back of the American’s head.
“Of course, you dolt,” the older man scoffed, his blush practically glowing in the dark, “…And I love you, too.” ~*~*~* And so ends Heartfelt. I hope you all enjoyed the fluff. ^^ I think I'll be de-anoning for this, too...anyway. I'll leave the rest of the night for you guys to imagine. ;)
