Ever the Same [LietPolLiet] [Omake~]

OMAKE!
It was hard to tell with that big old moustache of his in the way, but from the way his eyebrows were bunched up, Poland was pretty sure his boss was scowling at him.
“Feliks.”
The blond smiled sweetly. “Like, yes, Józef?”
Piłsudski’s expression changed, this time to the “my country is going to drive me to drink” look.
“Where, pray tell, were you until three in the morning?”
“Patrolling!” Poland lied gleefully. Piłsudski raised an eyebrow at him.
“And you lost your jacket in the line of duty?”
Poland slung himself down in the chair across from his boss’s desk, feet dangling over one arm of it. “It was like, heinously hot out there, you know? It was like, either the coat had to go, or I was gonna have to like, commandeer some ice from the nearest town, and seriously, how lame would that be? ‘Like, army business, gimme your ice so I can stuff it in my shirt~’ ”
The boss looked like he was getting a headache. “Well, from the looks of you, you could have just asked your lady friend to find you some. You could be more discreet, Feliks…”
It was so cute when his bosses tried to play like he didn’t like guys. Silly, silly, too-serious men!
“Like, what do you mean?”
Raising an eyebrow, Piłsudski tapped the side of his own neck, then pantomimed ruffling his hair. “You come back missing clothing and… like that, and expect no one to notice?”
Poland laughed. “Oh… Wait, so like, by ‘lady friend’, I guess you mean ‘mosquitoes’? ‘Cause that’s totally what’s up with the marks. Duh. Someone’s mind’s totally in the gutter!”
Piłsudski looked at Poland. Poland looked at Piłsudski. The marks on his neck continued to be very obviously not mosquito bites.
Piłsudski sighed. “My mistake,” he grumbled, evidently not in the mood to press the matter. “Go and rest. There’s work to be done.”
Smiling, Poland hopped out of his chair. “Like, will do~”
“And Feliks?”
“Mmyeah?”
“Discretion.”
“Sure, whatevs!”
Watching Poland go, Piłsudski rubbed his temple. That boy was going to be the death of him.

Why has no one commented on this yet?! O_O This was an adorable fill, anon! I've always been a sucker for nations not necessarily feeling the same as their people and having thoughts and hearts of their own, and hey, if Austria and Hungary can still be together after their divorce, why can't it be the same for other couples?
Especially loved Poland blatantly lying to his boss and the latter being utterly unable to call him out on it. That suits his character so well, and was a nice, light-hearted way to end the story after the star-crossed lovers angst.

Author-anon, you are AMAZING. This is AMAZING. I was just bemoaning the fact that there has been hardly any Pol/Liet on the kink_meme just yesterday, and today I stumble across this little gem. It is heart-breaking and sweet and such a refreshing take on this time period. Just amazing.
This was my favorite line; it was so very, very Poland:
"I'm like, sick of but, Liet. I'm totally, gag-me-with-a-spoon, never wanna hear it again in my life sick of 'I can't', and 'you have to', and 'if only'!"

I'm just going to second everything that's been said. Easily one of the best PolLiet fills, and this whole fic just made me so stupidly happy by the end, I'm still smiling thinking about it. This made me have renewed faith in the kinkmeme so thank you so much &hearts

Oh man, that was awesome. I kept laughing and grinning and feeling hot and bothered all the way through it. I love the Omake part, especially. The part about bothering the army businesses to give him ice, in particular XD
