Taming of the Bull (2.2/?)

His brother seemed to be giving him waggling eyebrows and a smirk that could not have only one meaning. Ludwig gave a heavy sigh as he pushed the elevator button. “What is it, Brother?” he asked, though he was sure that he didn’t want to know.
Gilbert tried to look innocent (which never worked out). He started singing casually to himself as they entered the elevator, the words going something like, “Ludwig and Feli, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G…”
Ludwig frowned as he picked up on these lyrics. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he muttered curtly.
“Are you kidding me?” Gilbert looked honestly surprised. “You haven’t been that nice to anybody since… well, ever. You’re saying you have no interest in the kid? At all?”
“Not in the way you’re insinuating.”
“But you’ve practically got a date! You should’ve seen your face when you were talking to him, West. I’m never wrong, and I say you’re completely lovestruck.” Gilbert grinned his feral grin. “And a good choice, too. Innocent ones like him don’t come around very often.”
Ludwig glared at his brother and stated, “Drop it, Brother. There’s no such thing as love at first sight, and even if there is, I wouldn’t fall victim to it that easily.” The elevator door opened, and he walked out into the parking garage. “This conversation is over.”
“Don’t worry, West,” Gilbert cackled, trotting after him. “I’ll get you some more time with him. Just you wait and see, your awesome brother can arrange anything!”

Well, I've not read Taming of the Shrew, nor watched 10 Things I Hate About You, but your version here has me in stupid fits and giggling like an idiot. Genius! This is just bloody ingenious!
I love every bits of it and man~ Can't wait for more! \o/
I just want to cuddle Italy forever oh my God, And Ludwig is such a huge dork.
For a first APH fic, this is amazing! I think all of them were spot on, anon, and I'm enjoying this .3. And Of course I love the idea of buisness man! Rome. I can't wait for more~

Loving this fic so far! I have read The Taming of the Shrew before, and now that I think of it, Feliciano and Lovino fit the roles of Bianca and Katherine scarily well. (Though Spain, unlike Petruchio, would probably "tame" Lovino by simply being too nice and dense to be fazed by Lovino's spats...)
I actually like that you're not adhering scene-by-scene to the play; it doesn't feel like you're shoehorning characters into the roles, and the Germany/Italy bits were utterly adorable. Can't wait to see Spain's appearance, and if you somehow manage to include something similar to the Most-definitely-NOT-dressed-for-the-occasion Petruchio + I-DON'T Katherine wedding scene in a later part, I'd love you so hard.

I was watching 10 Things I Hate About You and I was thinking that too. Then I found this prompt and I was like "I HAVE TO DO THIS."
Thank you!! I'm glad you like that, because I wasn't sure whether to write it scene-by-scene or to write it freestyle. In the end, I decided to stick to the basic chronology but not by scenes, so I'm glad it worked out. :D
And that's one of my favorite parts, so I'm definitely gonna try my hardest to work that in. |D

I love this so much! I love your takes on, well, all of the characters, but especially Romano! And Francis' plan to "distract" him... well, I've read the play and seen the movie, but I'm still really looking forward to seeing how that turns out.

If you don't know the plot of Shrew, you can read this (minus the first paragraph):
