It was a large wedding, complete with pink and white floral arrangements hanging over every pew, a dozen bridesmaids dressed in lacy gowns, and a professional photographer snapping pictures every two seconds.

“Do you, Hannah Elizabeth Smith, take this man, William Jacob Freeman, to be your lawfully wedded husb-?” The preacher began. He saw Mexico and Belarus standing in the entryway. He stopped talking.

“I do?” The bride whispered tentatively through her long veil, turning around to see what everyone else in the church was suddenly looking at. What she saw were two young women, completely covered in dirt, wearing rather tattered clothes and very confused expressions.

Seeing that this was obviously the wrong wedding, both girls blushed furiously and tried to back away very quickly. Not before, however, the photographer aimed his camera and the both of them and managed to get a couple of shots.

“Who are these women?” The bride turned to her husband-to-be and demanded.

“I-I don’t know!” The man stammered. “I’ve never seen them before in my life!”

“Don’t lie to me!” The bride yelled. “Are they your past lovers? Current lovers? Come on, ‘fess up, Casanova!”

“But my precious Hannah Banana!” the man cried, desperately trying to cling to a shred of his decency. “I have never loved anyone but you!”

How this exchange ended, Mexico and Belarus never got to know, because they took off running as fast as they could in the opposite direction as men from the wedding party began chasing after them.

“You idiot!” Mexico shrieked. “Loca, absolutely loca! There are other churches in this city, you know!”

“I could have sworn it was that one!” Belarus defended.

“Well, obviously it wasn’t, and now we’re going to get murdered by the best man!”

“Just run!” Belarus frantically instructed, trying to follow her own orders as closely as possible on two broken heels.

They ran down the street, past bars and cafes and quaint little shops.

“What are you two doing?” a familiar voice suddenly echoed from a sidewalk table as they passed by.

Both girls turned to look and saw England, sitting underneath a giant umbrella drinking a bottle of gin.

“What are you doing?” they asked in unison.

“That stupid America,” he muttered. “Marrying that psychotic bastard. He doesn’t know what he’s doing, that daft boy. He’ll regret this when tomorrow comes.”

“We’re just headed to crash the wedding of just that person!” Mexico said enthusiastically. “Wanna help us, señor?”

England sighed. “Oh…why the hell not?”

A/N: “Seriously, is your head separate from your body and that scarf the only thing holding it on?”= a shameful reference to one of my favorite children’s stories, The Yellow Ribbon. Not that it matters or anything...

And, just for the lulz, this part was written while listening to the Chess soundtrack repeatedly.

And you ask me why I love her
Through wars, death and despair
She is the constant, we who don't care
And you wonder will I leave her - but how?
I cross over borders but I'm still there now

If there is a more perfect song for Russia, I dare you to find it.

This is so amazing. I'd actually love to see that minister's expression if he found out he was marrying two countries-- and the Cold War pair, no less XD

Oh my God! If that's the book I think it is then that was one of my favorite books when I was younger!

You deserve my first-born for this fic, you really do. Amazing job author anon!

And now England's involved... Can you read my mind? 'Cause I was totally just thinking he would join the team and lol'ing at the thought of how dysfunctional that team would be.
