Once and Always [4/4]

If her fingers pull at him too cruelly, he says nothing and neither does she. She holds him steady as she straddles his thighs, bringing up her body and the tip of him together. Her breath slowly whistles through her parted lips as she lets him slip into her, bit by bit. She props herself carefully on the bed, feeling him hot and hard in her. His hips buck upwards involuntarily and she clenches him with her internal muscles as well as her legs.
If she scratches him too much and sometimes lets her hands travel to his throat, he says nothing and neither does she. She rides him, as she has never done to any man. And he lets her, his fingers digging into her taut thighs. Her skin prickles and she bites her lip at the feel of him in her, a curiously pleasurable pain. She leaves raw trails along his chest with her nails and her hands spasm towards his throat like creeping insects.
He does not close his eyes as his hips buck upwards again and again to meet her desperately. Her mind imposes so many different faces on his, turning black hair into gold or removing that silly stray strand, turning almost-black eyes into luminous amber or heaven’s blue. But his expression cannot change and that is what pulls her back from twisted dreams and warped memories.
His expression holds a sorrow that is beyond grief, beyond despair and yet, it has nothing of pity. She hates him and loves him all at once now, her fingers longing to cup his face and gouge out those knowing, pained eyes that flicker with imagined visages. Men, comes the savage thought. Men. You who treat us like little dolls. You who patronize us, break us, discard us.
He then grips her hands in his, almost causing her to lose her balance, their rhythm to falter. But he continues to hold her hands in his, looking at her without fear and perhaps a curious knowingness. Perhaps he says to her, “I know what you are. And it will not make me turn away.”
Or is it another madness she falls into then?
She closes her eyes tightly, unwilling to dare another encounter with an imagined beast of her cracking sanity. Her hips only continue to move as she concentrates on his arousal, not his strong and gentle fingers against her hands. She finds her belly taut with hot anticipation and her cry is lost beneath his, as he frantically bucks upwards for one last time and she feels his seed in her.
She opens her eyes to see him fall back, like a shot man. His eyes fall closed and he remains limp on the bed with nary a final twitch. She slowly gets off him and cleans herself off with the corner of a sheet, doing him the same courtesy with a tenderness that surprises even herself. He reaches for her hand and manages to catch her arm.
Swallowing a sudden lump in her throat, she curls up atop him, feeling his arms wrap around her. She presses an ear to his chest, hearing the hammering of his heartbeat slowly and steadily come to a slow, even rhythm. He sleepily kisses her temple and falls asleep, softly snoring.
The next morning, he sits up sharply in an otherwise empty bed and looks around the room in a sweep that hardly takes very much time. He notices his neatly folded uniform atop the chair but not his pistol. That he finds by his pillow, with the safety off, as though it had been dropped, the muzzle pointing to his head. Without a word or change in expression, he picks it up, flicking on the safety and puts it back in his holster. Then he gets dressed, smiling a little to himself when he realizes that he can’t find his handkerchief.

Notes: -South Korea sent the second highest number of troops to Vietnam during the Vietnam War, after the United States. South Korean troops were considered highly efficient and very effective, with American leadership trusting the security of Korean controlled areas without question. -The Siberian tiger is generally considered the national animal of Korea, despite being extinct in South Korea and with only a very small population in North Korea (which can be disputed). -The title was inspired by the motto of the South Korean Marine Corps: “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.” -My depiction of Vietnam was based on several fancomics, namely that she pretty much had Dissociative Personality Disorder during the Vietnam War, with a “North” and a “South” personality. I also added an element of self-mutilation as a metaphor… one that I trust I won’t have to explain?
W-wow... this was, this was something else. I loved this. Just .... wow.
The smut was really sweet and gentle but somehow filled with angst at the same time. My heart felt all fuzzy while reading it. C:
I thought Korea and Vietnam would have an interesting relationship to start with. But this just changed my mind, I know they'll have an interesting relationship. 8D *Supports a weird pairing now*

I'm glad you liked it. It had started out as fluff, to be honest. Or at least more positive in nature and definitely about comfort sex. Then I got more into both their heads and it got... dark. Crazy doesn't even begin to cover Vietnam.
Thank you for the interesting turn in research, actually. I never realized that S.Korea played that big a part in the Vietnam War. So this is a plausible pairing!
XD Actually, a few weeks ago, someone tried to egg me on to write a South Korea/Vietnam fic; no particular prompt, it was just her OTP (somehow along with Cuba/Vietnam).

Anon is wondering if you're who she thinks you might be, cause of the way S.Korea is described here, the way he talks etc. The one way I've been able to tell apart is the mention of cigarettes. If not, anon duly apologize for the mistake. (Well, this is an anon kink meme anyway. 8D)
That said, it's a really interesting turn to both their relationship. It isn't something entirely pleasant, nor comfortable totally, but just there, that both have experienced the same pain, being in similar situations.

Yes, that was what I was going for. But at the same time I didn't want the impression that they know exactly about that kind of pain because it is different (at least with the canon I've given to Korea) and to pretend otherwise is to insult them both (if that made any sense).
