I just got back from a bit of camping in Wisconsin with Patrick, Malora and Chris.
Observation #1: Wisconsin is cheap, cheap, CHEAP for groceries.
Observation #2: Wisconsin is home to delicious cheese curds and even more delicious beer.
Observation #3: By the first two observations alone, I want to move to Wisconsin.
Observation #4: Mapquest sucks for directions, especially very late at night.
Observation #5: When going camping, one should always pack more heavy-weight clothes than they expect to need, plus many pairs of socks.
Observation #6: It will almost always rain. In our case, it rained constantly and thoroughly. The word "torrential" comes to mind.
Observation #7: One should always take along someone who cooks for a living, because your meals will be OUT OF THIS WORLD. Chris made (I swear to god): pancakes, spare ribs, sausages, porkchops, pan-seared salmon with rosemary, roasted asparagus, vegetable-tofu curry, more pancakes with a whisky-maple-apple-pear topping. I swear. And the meat was all for him, the rest of us are vegetarians! I've never eaten so well in my life, and because it rained the whole time I didn't exactly burn many calories unless you count...
Observation #8: Squatting behind a tree to pee isn't all that difficult.
Observation #9: Cows can be really scary when it's dark, rainy, and you're stoned in the woods.
Observation #10: If you're going to be stuck in the woods when it's cold and constantly wet, you better be sure that you're with some awesome people.
All in all, I love Wisconsin, I had a blast camping, and I feel more happy and relaxed than I have been in a long time. I wish I could do this every month...
