-I had a dream the other night that I was watching puppet porn. Porn...performed by puppets. It was not sexy. Later on, I had a dream that I was walking on campus and it was hailing, huge, huge pieces of hail, and I had to curl up in a ball on the ground and shield myself with books.
-Some good and some bad (that I've come to terms with and so it's okay): I *finally* have a reader, and she's actually interested in my project (the meeting with J.Cole yesterday went well, you see, and the pep talk the day before with Anwen was really helpful in getting my mind clear). The only issue is--she's not reading papers over the summer and so I won't be able to graduate in August like I'd hoped. So, I'm hoping to spend the summer writing the thesis and working (so I can survive) and then when she returns for fall quarter, will have a fantastic first draft that she will have time to read in October, will be able to turn around to me for revisions. It's not ideal, but since I'd basically resigned myself to sticking around in Chicago for another year or so, it'll work. I can deal with it. I just need to refine the details with the program administrators.
-J.Cole also recommended me buddying up with one of her other thesis advisees, someone I actually know and like, so she and I can keep each other on track and have a little support. Awesome.
-This also means that I won't be stressing over the summer and will be able to enjoy myself and will be able to visit my family and maybe go on a camping trip with some of my girls and maybe take a trip to Philly/PA! So, huzzah!
-I'm also doing some amazing, fascinating reading on performance art, the Gunther vn Hagens Bodyworlds exhibit, freakery, science exhibitions, public anatomy lessons, the Hottentot Venus...it's just super-duper cool. I no longer feel like throwing up every time I think about my thesis and doing thesis reading. It's pretty refreshing, let me tell you. I wish I'd been able to see the Bodyworlds exhibit when it was here in Chicago. My brother saw it in Philly, I'm so jealous.
