Challenge: 13- Spook

Rating: PG
Summary: England tries to summon the Devil, but America is highly against it

Wars were a stressful time for every nation. To be taken from one's home and thrust into the middle of such violence and death surely wasn't the best part of being who they were. But every nation had his or her own way in dealing with the intense emotional pain that came with the fighting.

For England, it was the decision to end the bloodshed by summoning the Devil.

America was with him as he gathered the supplies and drew one of his strange, complex magic circles on the basement floor with a stubby piece of chalk. And America was highly against any sort of Devil summoning.

“How is the Devil gonna end bloodshed by coming?” he asked, glancing around anxiously. “I mean, it's the Devil. You'd be better off summoning an angel.”

England closed his eyes for a second before staring at his ally, a worried expression on his face. “I want this to end, America. I just want it all to end. This is the only thing I can do that will completely destroy Germany and make everything end.”

“It's not the only way,” America argued, growing more vocal now that he saw the helplessness England was conveying. “We can succeed without magic.”

The island nation scoffed, looking away. “How?” he asked. “How do you know we can?”

It was quiet for a moment, but then America smiled, nervously but hopefully. “I'm here, aren't I?” And then he held out his hand towards England. “We'll succeed together.”

It took him a little bit of time, but England finally reached over and gently grasped America's hand.

“Yes,” he whispered. “I suppose we will.”

Characters: America, Russia
Challenge: 13- Spooky
Bonus Words: terror
Rating: PG
Summary: Russia is different during the Cold War

Russia was a different person.

America wasn't just saying that because of all the hype of the Cold War. Many countries, France and England included in that, argued that he was just paranoid, that he was just losing his mind from the stress and god-awful belief that the world would be blown up with their nukes.

But, while that all might have been true, he was sane enough to noticed the obvious changes from the Russia he once knew.

The old Russia, while crazy, wasn't this crazy. He didn't mindlessly kill people, he didn't act so utterly out of control.

This Russia was different.

This Russia would smile down the hallway at America after a world meeting. Not a friendly smile. Not a welcoming smile. Not even a normal-Russia smile.

It was a crazy smile, a smile to show just a hint of the insanity that lay just behind the thin layer of control, a smile to show just how close Russia was to truly snapping.

And America was the only one who seemed to notice the terror that lay behind the smile.

Title: We'll See
Characters: America, France
Challenge: 13- Spook
Bonus Words: pumpkin
Rating: G
Summary: Alfred and Francis are carving pumpkins for Halloween.

“Whatcha carving on your pumpkin?” Alfred asked, trying to steal a glance over at the masterpiece Francis was currently working on. However, Francis was all too used to Alfred's schemes of trying to sabotage his opponents (even if that opponent happened to be his boyfriend) and managed to shield his pumpkin away from wandering eyes.

“As I told you before, Alfred, you'll find out once we both finish.” He couldn't help but smile at the younger man's enthusiasm for Halloween. Alfred always went all out, from costumes and pumpkins, to candy and decorations. Everything had to be perfect for Halloween, and this year was no exception.

Alfred pouted. “But, Francis, I'm nearly done! I was just wanting to see your progress. You know I like watching you work!”

“Are we still referring to the pumpkins here?”

This earned a laugh. “Fine, fine, whatever. Just to let you know, though, I'm totally going to beat you, no matter what you choose to carve. Mine is gonna be the best.”

Francis stuck his tongue out in concentration, adding the final touches to the Jack-o-lantern that bore an uncanny resemblance to his American partner. “We'll see about that.”
[Devil Summoning]: I honestly have no clue what the hell this is. I apologize for writing something so awful. It seemed like a smart idea at the time. I swear, it meant to be funny.

[Smile]: It's my headcanon that Russia was spooky and weird during the Cold War. America was the paranoid one.

[We'll See]: FrUS is always needed. In every single situation. I love them.
