Why This Must Be Read: I love love love this fic and desperately wish it were canon. It’s a beautiful exploration of Clint and Natasha’s friendship, Clint and Bobbi’s marriage and Natasha and Bobbi’s relationship as Natasha adjusts to her place with S.H.I.E.L.D. and in the western world. It’s not an OT3 fic-in a way, that would’ve been too easy here-rather, it’s a simple, believable intimacy. I also love that most of the story includes Bobbi as a very specific character, not merely as a generic woman who’s married to Hawkeye.

Why This Must Be Read: When done right, daemon fics-stories that incorporate the concept from His Dark Materials that every person has a tangible manifestation of their soul in the form of an animal-always show something new and cool about the fused universe in which they’re operating. This story is a telling addition to Avengers fanon, as it investigates what Clint has gained and lost through S.H.I.E.L.D. and through his experience with Loki. The daemon lore is woven in nicely as he and Bobbi find their way back to each other, and the idea of Tony Stark messing with Dust and daemon connections is both as tempting and as unsettling as it should be.
