Why This Must Be Read: Because it's beautiful. Adam/Vicky is the pairing of my teenage heart and I basically love all fic for them, but this one is particularly lovely. It's quiet, almost, in the way that they are in the books and it just feels like them in the best possible way.

Why This Must Be Read: Because Carrie/David is the pairing that American Idol fandom forgot and it is a TRAVESTY because they are actually friends and include shoutouts to each other in their liner notes and go to hockey games together for her birthday and other stuff too. And this fic perfectly captures what I like to imagine their dynamic to be.

Why This Must Be Read: So I never actually got around to seeing the movie, but one of my favorite type of AUs in the past few years has been ones based on Life As We Know It, aka two people who should not end up raising a baby/family together wind up doing just that. And in this particular case, that means you get a future Dan and a future Blair raising Nate and Serena's hypothetical kids.
It's fantastic.
The kids are well drawn, you get a real sense of the history that's transpired between everyone in the intervening years, and it's got an excellent slow build towards something more.

Why This Must Be Read: This is maybe my favorite crossover of all time; it's certainly the crossover that made me embrace the concept of them at all. Linking of the Sorkin-universe shows is a natural fit, but this grows out of a very different West Wing, one that might have come about if season one had ended very differently. It's painful and messy and plausible, and that's really the thing that I most want my crossovers to be.
