This completely broke my heart... and pasted it all back together again.

It's probably the closest thing to comfort-reading that I have!

Why This Must Be Read: There's an aesthetic about jenni's writing that I've loved since she was writing The West Wing fic. Her characters all have this very grounded feeling to them. But this story... oh, this story. It's a hard, gritty piece of work that doesn't shy away from the darker aspects of the mini-series (tho, the mini-series did do that its own self), but that doesn't exactly revel in them either. And I'm very interested to see where all of this is going, because I can see the structural build-up, and am anticipating the pay-off.

Why This Must Be Read: The number one thing that I liked about Grey's Anatomy is that it has a lead heroine who has some hardcore depression. And a fairly realistic one. I also really love that the show is framed (or was in seasons 1-3, I've not watched since) around the fact that Meredith has buckets of self-knowledge and that the happy, skippy, non-depressive people on the show keep trying to fix her, when she's doing fine. She has coping mechanisms, she has things she does. Her life only goes to hell when people try and "fix" her or make her more than she's capable of. And the #1 thing I love about Meredith and Alex's friendship (as well as Meredith and Christina's friendship) is that they've never done that to each other. And this story is not a romance. It's their friendship and the people they are with occasional sex. And it's brilliant.

It loves all its characters, but acknowledges their flaws, and I love that so much. Also, any story wherein Molly and Mycroft are adorable at each other, I will love until the end of time.
