Why This Must Be Read: Sansa/Jon is the sort of pairing I didn't know I needed untill I ran across this amazing fic. It's set post-season 6, it's bitter and hard in places, because both Sansa and Jon has become harder people as the war and pain and snow wears them down. It's the battle for Sansa's soul, driven as she is by both ambition and fear; and the battle for Jon's humanity. I adore this fic and even though it's not completed, it is absolutely worth the wait.
She presses his hand and huddles close to him on the threshold, with the grim winter night on one side and a cold, empty corridor on the other, the distant sounds of the castle life muted by the loud beating of his heart. He lifts her gloved hand to his lips and kisses it, his eyes searching her face for he knows not what. A proof of deceit or a proof of trust. Anything but the stern, beautiful features of a girl who’s been forced to lie so often that the truth would poison her tongue.
“Just us”, she repeats, and for a fraction of a second, in the desperate stress on the “us”, he hears a hint of the little girl who grew up in Winterfell.

Why This Must Be Read: I find the idea of Dark!Sarah fascinating, and this fic (and its epilogue Or Winter, Too?), told from the perspective of Jareth, is both chilling and delightful. With its distractingly beautiful prose it rapidly rose to the top of my pile of beloved Labyrinth fics.
Eyes of summer, skin of winter his subjects warble, mouth of morning, hair of midnight. Touch of moonlight, heart hard as sunlight.
And Jareth begins to wonder if they've seen a truth he hasn't. The very thought is preposterous. But he can't change the song, and he can't silence the singers, and he can't even stop himself from sometimes thinking in those words.
Sarah stops blushing and begins to smile a slow, satisfied smile

Why This Must Be Read: Short and sweet (and a bit silly and sad in equal measures, as a Last Unicorn fic ought to be), it touches only briefly on the romance, but it's a lovely rumination on just how much the Unicorn was changed by her experience with the humans.
Trees, long-lived as they are, can serve as fine company to the ageless and undying. Turtles, also. The desire for such companionship was new, strange, and overwhelming.
However, neither trees nor turtles are immortal.
The unicorn tread a slow path through the snow to her frozen mirrored pool.

Why This Must Be Read: My last fic for Christmas Day is an epic read, and one I can't believe hasn't been recced yet. The maybe most famous work in the entire ASoIaF fandom is a continuation (and finish) of George RR Martin's books: Faithfully rendered, beautifully written. Reading The North Remembers will make the wait for both season seven and the lastest book seem less long - and maybe even sooth those frightened voices in the back of our heads that whispers that Martin won't ever finish. It's that good.
In the ashes of war-torn Westeros, the fate of the remnants of House Stark - and that of their lovers, allies, friends, and foes - hangs in the balance.
