MIND GAME
Originally uploaded by unickymous. i feel like people in my life are screwing with my mind and just generally being ridiculously, disgustingly unreliable.
this isn't just about my PC community partners anymore.
and i don't know whether i've regressed in terms of my laid-back-ness (or even raised my expectations of others?? i doubt that one), whether i've had a string of bad luck in terms of this particular department..., whether i've woken up from a daze & just now realized this trend OR if i've recently set people against me / myself up for disappointment or something! srsly, WTF?!
i could give you examples from other times in the last few weeks but let's just look at today:
yesterday evening a couple PCV buddies said (separately, i might add) that they'd contact me this morning about their outdoorsy plans for the day in case they were going to do something based in or near town and i could join them. i haven't heard from them and while it's possible they just decided not to approach town and not to bother texting me their changed course, i feel a little slighted and wait, b/c i'm only just getting started!!
a guy friend told me last night that he'd call at 10 this morning. he sent one or two very brief/perfunctory emails starting closer to 11a.m. and then called once at around 2p but had to go and said he'd call again after lunch. i haven't heard from him again and it's just past 7. i have been either with my cell or within range of my home phone the entire day so there can be no lame 'oh, but i just didn't want to leave a msg' excuses.
speaking of phones though, i DID get two calls today intended for dr. julian's office. only recently has this happened - a couple other times - so i don't know what's going on there b/c i've had this same # for nearly a year and a half... next time, if this happens again, i'll have to ask the caller which # she thinks she's dialing.
i once saw a dr. julian in town - last summer - but the last known # i have for his office doesn't share any digits in common with my own except the first two that are pretty much the same island-wide!!
FINALLY, as i approached my door via my landlady's / our front walkway this evening - just now - we greeted e/o and then she asked me if i knew that edrick is out of prison.
umm wtf and NO?!! i saw him just over a week ago and the last i knew, he was in til friggin' 12/07! i have not heard from or seen him and no one in the village today mentioned him to me. i asked her from whom she heard this - she can quite the gossip / a definite link in the so-called grapevine - and she said from several people--that that is the word on the street. but she couldn't confirm that anyone to whom she spoke actually saw him around w/their own eyes or even where he was spotted (e.g. in town, near the prison, in our village...). she made sure i know he's not welcome on her property again and i said that's perfectly clear & understandable if not agreeable to me. she kept saying, 'i know he's out' but again, she didn't ACTUALLY see him or know details, from what i could tell...
from what i know, edrick's been on good behavior and recently had a minor illness and injury, but neither of these things seem like they'd reasonably qualify him for such a reduced sentence so suddenly... i pretty much don't believe it, but i did ring up his aunt and got his cousin on the phone who told me she knew nothing of this news.
it's all quite vexing, to say the least!
